10 MCU Villains Who Don’t Look Like They Should
It’s not easy to adapt a character from the comic books as it needs a lot of perfection in the minor details of the character. Before finalizing a character, the makers have to decide whether they want to follow the complete look of the character into the movie or they’re going to change it a little bit because sometimes it’s not possible to make exactly the same thing on the big screen and sometimes changes are good. But, today we are going to talk about 10 MCU villains who weren’t good as they should be if we compare them to their original designs in the comic books.
If we talk about the current technology then there aren’t many excuses left on the table for the makers because of all the technology they have in their hands now as they can make whatever they want to but it’s the vision and decisions which change a lot of things. So, it’s the right time to talk about the disasters Marvel Cinematic Universe has produced over the years:
1. Malekith:
In the comics, the most interesting and famous thing about Malekith is that he has a devilish smile on his face and is the thing which makes this character a very evil in nature. There are a lot of appearances of Malekith in the comic world but all have one thing in common and that is none other than his evil grin.
But his evil grin is missing in the movie Thor: The Dark World. As we all know that Malekith is a dark elf who knows a lot of Dark Magic and use it in hurting people and also love to make people struggle. But, in the movie, we have seen Malekith more like a statue with little emotions in it as we haven’t seen his evil smile and other character traits.
2. Killmonger:
In the comics, Killmonger is much bigger than the size of a normal human and also have very big muscles and a great masculine body. If we talk about his suit than his suit includes spikes and also have spikes in his boots even. Also, on top of it, he has a necklace of skulls around his neck.
But, we haven’t seen anything of this in the movie Black Panther. Instead of all these character-defining things we have seen that Killmonger is having a lot of self-made scars on his body which told about the no. of people he has defeated so far.
3. Vulture:
In the comics, Vulture looks like a real Vulture and do a clear justice to his name by his appearance. Also, in the comics, we can see that he have a green skin-tight costume and also have light-green wings with a furry collar in white color.
But, in the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, we saw that the makers took more of a modern and stylish approach as they went for a technologically equipped villain instead of the one we saw in comics. But, there are many fans who want to see the similar kind of vulture just like they have in the comics instead of the one flying in some kind of suit.
4. Ulysses Klaue:
In the comics, we can see that Klaue is a lot similar in appearance to Magneto as it also has the exact same purple and red color on it. But, isn’t as much interesting as Magneto in terms of appearance, but it’s easy to understand that the makers don’t want any kind of costume conflict and thought making some changes instead of that will be a good decision.
But, the best thing MCU did was to hand the weaponry to Klaue in order to make some little similarities between the design we have in comics and also in the movie.
5. Yellowjacket:
It’s really hard to find any bad thing in the CGIs of Ant-Man movie but we have to admit it that the Yellowjacket in the movie wasn’t as evil as he is in the comic books. In the comics, we all know how menacing he is as he has blades on his shoulders and also a big bee in yellow color on his chest.
But, in the movie, it’s more of a technologically advanced suit made for resembling it with the Ant-Man suit that is more advanced in technology and also in look. But, there wasn’t any scary thing in his look and was more of a robotic villain in the suit.
6. Mandarin:
It’s not easy to make Mandarin alive on the big screen because of the look it has in the comics but in Iron Man 3 we have seen that the makers of the movie went on a different approach as they made the character more of a genius from mind as the makers changed their character to an English actor who decided to make propaganda films in order to make some money.
But, maybe this is the best approach and right decision because it wasn’t necessary and also not possible to bring this character on the big screen in the manner we have it in comics.
7. Shocker:
On one side where fans were happy seeing the Vulture in more of a modern technological costume, they got absolutely shattered when the scene came and they realized that Shocker is going to be an ordinary person in comparison to the Shocker we have in the comics.
In the movie, the position of Shocker was shifted from one team member of Vulture to another and still, we haven’t seen any resemblance of the character to the one we have in comics as we have seen that in the comics Shocker have a mask.
8. Nebula:
In the comics, we have seen that it was Thanos who changed Nebula into a zombie-like character as he doesn’t like his original appearance. But, we haven’t seen either the original or the one Zombie-like appearance of Nebula and instead of that, we have seen a mechanical design of the character which is light years different from the appearance we have of her in the comic books.
It’s strange that the MCU didn’t go on to give us the glimpses of any of her character in the movie and stick to the one they made which is a lot different than the original one we have seen in the comics.
9. Baron Helmut Zemo:
Baron Zemo has many different costumes over the years in the comics but one thing that has been part of all his costumes is the purple mask he wears in order to hide his face completely.
But, in the movie ‘Captain America: Civil War’, we have seen that the makers of the movie gave him more of a human appearance and also not giving him his famous mask which is very menacing and one of the defining things of this character.
10. Dormammu:
When in the movie ‘Doctor Strange’, Dormammu made his appearance in front of the fans, a lot of people went confused and disappointed because the fans of comics know that there’s nothing like those vertical lines on the face of the villain in the comics.
Also, there were no flames around his face in the movie and also didn’t have that character-defining flame which Dormammu had around his giant head in the comics. In the comics, we all have seen that Dormammu is always surrounded with flames and fire but in the movie, we saw a completely different visual appearance of the character.
