It seems like writings were on the walls that this year is going to break some Box Office records but it’s also true that no one imagined that this year is going to touch a historic level as according to the statistics and reports from the National Association of Theatre Owners and also from ComScore it has been announced that the North American box offices hit a ground-breaking record of $12 billion in a period of last 12 months from October 2017-October 2018.
We all know that a lot of great movies have been released this year and all the credit goes to the exceptional movies which we have seen in this period of time with many Studios producing one of their greatest movies ever in this year.
All the credit of the success goes to some notable studios and those studios which have earned a big amount of money this year are Disney, Universal Pictures, Paramount, Fox, Warner Bros., Huaxia Film, Wanda Media, and many more.
Now, if we will talk about the movies which have collected tremendous money this year than without a shadow of a doubt the movie which has broken many records worldwide is Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, the movie collected a sum of $2.047 billion single-handedly and become the fourth-highest grossing film of all-time.
The hype of the movie was really impressive as it was the movie in which people and fans saw the most vicious and deadly villain of the MCU ‘Thanos’ coming in front of all the superheroes they have. The movie was a tremendous success both in the eyes of critics and with such success, we can only imagine what record the next installments of this franchise are going to earn as we all know Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 are going to come next year.
If we talk about the money and movies Disney produced in this year are Black Panther, Incredibles 2, and Ant-Man and the Wasp are the movies which collected a historic sum as Incredibles 2 earned a sum of $1.235 billion worldwide and also became the second highest grossing animated film of all-time.
There were a lot of movies which earned a big amount of money as Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom was the movie which showed the box-office that there are still many fans out there who want to see those big dinosaurs on the big screen as the movie earned a sum of $1.305 billion.
Also, it was the return of ‘Mission: Impossible –Fallout’ which earned a remarkable sum of $791 million and was the movie in which we saw Henry Cavill and Tom Cruise sharing the same frame.
Fox wasn’t much behind the success of all these studios as it produced ‘Deadpool 2’ which made them earn a sum of $734 million and was also a huge success in terms of the story.
The amazing success came in the hands of Wanda Media who produced the movie ‘Operation Red Sea’ which earned a whopping sum of $579.2 million and came as a shocker to many as no one could predict that the movie of this stature will have a success like this at the box office. More shock came in the industry when the movie ‘Detective Chinatown 2’ was released and Huaxia films are the producers of the movie and they earned a sum of $544 million.
‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ is the movie which earned a sum of $392 million and also it was ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ which was the movie which made a tremendous sum of $962 million.
There were a lot of great movies other than these biggies of the year and the most interesting part is that the box-office also saw breaking the record of October and a new record was there because of the release of Venom as a new record of October has been made which is a huge amount of $789.9 million for 2018 which smashed the previous record of $757.1 million of 2017.
So, with all these movies already creating history at the box-office, I think things are going to get better only for the box-office because we have many great movies lined up for next year and also some great ones are coming before the end of this year also.
