We have seen a slew of Avengers 4 set photos, and now there are certain people who think that they totally know what Marvel is going to do with the plot of Avengers 4, but I am here to tell you that we don’t know shit! Marvel is doing something completely insane and yes we may have some clue about the plot, but it is not even 10% of what the real deal is. Avengers 4 will involve time travel through the Quantum Realm, and as seen in the set photos, Tony and Ant-Man will specifically be the ones to travel through time and change the history.
But how significant is MCU going to play the time travel card still remains to be a mystery. People have come up with theories which suggest that Avengers 4 will show us all those films where the Infinity Stones are involved so they could collect them before Thanos gets to make the snap, but is that what’s really going to happen? An individual’s present-self going back in the past and seeing his younger version itself could cause a major ripple effect in the timeline.
Whatever has happened in the 20 movies of the MCU could be changed dramatically if even one significant move is played out in the open. So Marvel will certainly avoid doing things that could erase the events of the films that have already come out under their name.
The past altering events will be more subtle and we may actually have the proof for that. Amongst the set photos that we have seen for Avengers 4, a lot of those have shown us Thor having his long hair, Loki in chains and Tony Stark wearing the same T-shirt that he was wearing in the Avengers.
So this could be the time right after the New York battle. But there has been another set photo showing Tony in the SHIELD gear.
If you notice this properly, it is the same uniform that the SHIELD agents facilitating Loki were wearing on the Helicarrier, when Loki surrendered himself to the Avengers for the first time. Have a look:
Now if you look at this particular image, you can see that these Agents assigned by Nick Fury are actually wearing helmets, so Tony would easily be able to disguise himself. This could give us the hint that one of these SHIELD Agents will actually be Tony (from the future).
That in itself is insane! This little fact tells us that no matter how much we think we know about the film, we actually don’t know anything.
So what will be Tony’s agenda to infiltrate SHIELD? He is clearly trying to prevent the “temporal footprint” here, and keeping things as discrete as possible. Perhaps he may be amongst these agents to deliver some kind of warning or information to Loki.
He will certainly not do anything very big that would alter the timeline completely and affect several events that took place in the future of this particular film.
Taking the Tesseract or the Mind Stone from here is completely out of the picture because Thor actually used the Tesseract to travel to Asgard along with Loki.
So if Tony were to take that, then Loki would not have traveled to Asgard. Also, if Tony were to take the Scepter carrying the Mind Stone, then Ultron and Vision might never have been created.
This tells us that the timeline-altering events in Avengers 4 will not be making very significant changes that will cause the entire timeline to be altered. The ones traveling back in time will try to keep those changes very minimal and precise.
The Avengers will have a plan to change the timeline, but it may not involve taking the Infinity stones at all. It will be about moving those pieces which have only marginal changes to the past events.
Still, all that we have discovered by this set photo is just truly amazing, and we can actually be more hyped about what else Marvel will do in Avengers 4.
Hopefully, Marvel will reveal the title of the film very soon. It is assumed that we could be getting the title and the first trailer of the movie in the first week of November. So let’s see what happens. Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019, and here’s the official synopsis:
“A culmination of 22 interconnected films the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
