Avengers 4: Chris Evans Clarifies That His Farewell Didn’t Imply That Cap Dies
Avengers 4 is going to be the final outing of Chris Evans as Captain America and we won’t be seeing any more of him in the MCU beyond Phase 3. He along with Robert Downey Jr. has led the MCU from the front and now it’s time that we bid them a very warm farewell. Just a little while ago, Evans tweeted a heartfelt goodbye after spending his last day on the reshoots of Avengers 4. Here’s what he wrote:
“Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”
Now that he is done with the big MCU role, he seems to be a free man who can obviously do whatever he wants with his career from here on. It will obviously be sad to see him leave the MCU, but it is the right time and we will always be happy for him. He has revealed in the past that he is interested in directing films post his time with the MCU, and we’d look forward to that as fans.
He is not a big spotlight guy. He is the kind of person who mostly wants to stay away from it. Being a big part of Marvel would obviously not allow that, but now that he will be done with the MCU in the coming year, he could actually take a break from being the “big movie star,” and actually spend some quality time with his family.
But before his life beyond the MCU, he still has the press tours to attend. So he won’t be officially done with everything Marvel until Avengers 4 comes out and hits the theatres. While Cap is gonna be done with the MCU, most of the world already believes that he will bite the dust in Avengers 4. The goodbye tweet that Evans posted made that belief even stronger and the fans are saddened about this particular fact. Also, the tweet has angered some fans that Evans actually spoiled the outcome of Avengers 4.
Well, that is so not true and Evans himself has come in to explain the fact that his intentions were obviously not for spoiling the plot of Avengers 4. He recently appeared at a panel at ACE Comic Con in Chicago where he clarified that his tweet did not in any way hint at Steve Rogers’ death. He said:
“I should clarify that. I know I did tweet something that made a lot of people think that it was in some way a spoiler, and I should clarify that, regardless of how Avengers 4 ends, I would’ve tweeted the exact same thing.”
While he did say that he didn’t necessarily spoil Rogers’ fate in Avengers 4, he also did not deny the fact that he will die in the upcoming Infinity War sequel. So, the death is still in the picture and anything could happen in the film. But if you think about it, this really is a no-brainer that Captain America is the first name that comes on the list of people who will most tentatively sacrifice themselves for the greater good. But let’s wait and see what Marvel has in store for us. They obviously have a knack for surprising us in the end.
Avengers 4 will supposedly star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tessa Thompson, Evangeline Lilly, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum and Brie Larson.
Here’s the official Synopsis:
