Mission: Impossible 6 Passes Another Major Milestone Taking Down Deadpool 2
The best non-superhero action movie of this year was without a doubt Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 6. The franchise has taken great leaps in movie making and every new movie that they have put out over the years has been loved by the fans and critics alike! The last 3 outings of Tom Cruise, in particular, have been on a totally different level as every movie kept on getting better and better ever since Ghost Protocol came out. Now, the latest edition of the franchise has become the highest grossing out of the six, and the big achievement it has received is the fact that it has beaten well-received Superhero movies with such ease!
Hollywood has been taken over by the Superhero genre for the last decade or so, all thanks to Marvel, and amidst the fictional fantasies of comic book characters, Tom Cruise is one of the very few actors who has stuck to the more classical approach of making action movies instead of doing those big CGI Green Screen Superhero movies. Whatever he has done in the last decade or so involves practical action and not a whole lot of special effects.
There is nothing that the guy can’t do. Every year Tom Cruise gets himself engaged with practical death-defying stunts and when it comes to the Mission: Impossible series, every movie is a new adventure for him and he actually raises the bar with every new addition to the franchise.
We still can’t get over the fact that he actually hung himself and ran on the sides of the tallest building in the world! To top that, Cruise hung himself outside a flying plane with just one harness attached. You may have thought that Mr. Cruise here would have wanted to finish that stunt in just one go because let’s be honest, no other actor or even the stunt doubles would actually want to do that. And this legend actually did that take not just once or twice but 7 times! Moreover, he mentioned that in the underwater filming that Rogue Nation involved, he actually held his breath for more than 6 minutes! That is almost as long as Batman fought Superman in a 3-hour long movie!
And things have been even crazier with the latest outing in the MI Franchise, as in Fallout he does stunts from every vehicle the movie could fit in! Cruise drives a car like a Daredevil, jumps out of truck, falls off a bike, made a Halo jump out of a plane, jumped off of rooftops that broke his ankle for real, and to top everything, he flew a helicopter alone and hung out of it with guess what, just one harness!
All that hard work that he puts in does not really get acknowledged at the Box Office more often, but this time, he has got what he deserves. Mission: Impossible – Fallout already got the biggest critical acclaim by having a 98% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, and now the movie has proven to be the best of the franchise at the Box Office as well!
It already opened up with a major record for the opening weekend grossing over $61.5 Million within the first three days, and it currently stands at $735 Million at the worldwide Box Office having grossed past all other Mission: Impossible movies. Rogue Nation brought in $682 Million and Ghost Protocol made $694 Million. Well, this was totally expected, but the fact that the film is still going pretty strong even after being in its last few days at the theatres amazes us all.
The big achievement of this film is that it has actually beaten two of the very well received Superhero movies and has become the 5th highest grossing movie of the year by going past Deadpool 2 which ended its run with $734 Million in the bank. It feels good to see a Tom Cruise movie finally doing this well at the Box Office. He may be the 3rd richest actor in the world but his movies have not been big Billion Dollar money makers in his very long acting career.
MI 6 is currently running in the theatres and here’s the synopsis of the movie:
The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.
