Avengers: Infinity War was a massive crossover event, but Avengers 4 is going to be even bigger. Even though there were so many characters stashed into the movie, not all characters got to shine in the spotlight for long as it was just the likes of Thanos, Thor, Iron Man and Doctor Strange who got bigger story arcs, while others including Captain America had to play the second fiddle. But there was one thing in common throughout the movie, which was that all the Avengers came close to their deaths and half of the actual bit the Dust!
As we all know that the three big guns of MCU, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America came real close to their deaths at the hands of Thanos. The Audiences would have really lost it if either one of these three would have met their demise. Iron Man, in particular, was the closest to dying as after having a very powerful moment where Thanos stabbed him with his own blade, he was almost about to give us the very thing we all feared, which was the death of the most loved Avenger.
Watching the trailers, we all thought that Cap would die trying to hold Thanos off, but he was just knocked out with one punch, whereas it was Tony who almost died if it was not for Thanos. The Snap obviously gave us the biggest shock by killing off major heroes including the ones who are supposed to carry their franchises forward in the future. Black Panther’s and Doctor Strange’s Death was thrilling but it was Spidey’s death which literally brought tears to the eyes of viewers. It would have been even more heartbreaking if Iron Man would have died, but thankfully, he was saved for yet another movie.
Since RDJ and the two Chris’ have their contract exhausted after Avengers 4, it is highly unlikely that they would return to the MCU after Avengers 4 which brings us to the possibility that they will either be dead or retired at the end of the final movie of Phase 3. Captain America does have a higher probability to be killed off due to his sacrificing nature and lack of a major big moment in Infinity War, but there may be a possibility where Iron Man could die as well.
He came very close to it in Infinity War but at the end, we saw him helpless when Peter lay down in his arms in his dying moments. Now, Tony would really feel that Peter’s death was upon him as he was his responsibility, so he would give anything to reverse that and replace himself with Peter. Well, a scenario like that may happen in Avengers 4, but we have a glimpse at that heartbreaking moment right now through a very saddening fan art. Have a look:

This moment could possibly happen in Avengers 4, but we have to admit that neither we nor Marvel could afford to see Iron Man dying! He is Iron Man! He started it all and he is the main reason for Marvel’s major success. They cannot just kill him off. All good things must come to an end, but in this case, they have to take the rout of Retirement and not an actual death of the most beloved character in the entire MCU. Since RDJ is a big money maker, even a cameo from him could lift the earnings of a movie and that may be a reason why Marvel should consider keeping him alive for future Cameos.
Avengers: Infinity War will release on BluRay on August 14 and here’s the official Synopsis of Avengers: Infinity War:
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
