The Official Teaser Trailer of Transformers Spin-off “Bumblebee” Has Been Released

The Transformers franchise is one of the most popular and successful in the sci-fi genre. The movies are directed by Michael Bay and have grossed billions of dollars at the box office. But the core narrative has run its course and Paramount is looking to re-invent the franchise.

The most recent movie is Transformers: The Last Knight which couldn’t be a huge box-office success but managed to expand the Transformers cinematic universe. It tells the story of Autobots and Decepticons during the medieval times, which will be further explored in the two upcoming spin-offs set to take place in two different eras, one in the 1980s and the other during ancient Roman times.

We know that Bumblebee was on Earth for around 70 years, and the upcoming spin-off will shed light on what has been doing all this time. He found refuge at a junkyard in a small Californian town. The idea is to focus on the story and evolution of Bumblebee and the spin-off intends to give proper screen-time as it doesn’t have to compete with other transformers for that.

According to official plot description, the movie is a prequel and “will feature considerably fewer Transformers, concentrating on the big, yellow star and likely pitching a little younger, tonally.” The Empire magazine said that the movie will exploit a different demographic and target people who are big buyers of action figures.

It is directed by Helmer Travis Knight (Kubo and The Two Strings) and the script is written by Christina Hodson. The official teaser has been released by the studio and it’s a minute shorter than the first trailer, as desired by the fans. Recently, an official logo was also released by Hailee Steinfeld, it perfectly captured the feel of “Iron Giant”.

The movie cast is incredible as there are a number of amazing actors attached including John Cena, Hailee Steinfeld (Edge of Seventeen), Stephen Schneider (Comedy Central’s Broad City), Jorge Lendeborg Jr. Spider-Man: Homecoming), Jason Drucker (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul), Ricardo Hoyos (Degrassi: The Next Class), Abby Quinn (LandlineThe Sisterhood of the Knight), Rachel Crow (Deidra and Laney Rob a Train), and Grace Dzienny (Zoo).

Bumblebee’ has a release date of December 21, 2018, which is the same as DCEU’s ‘Aquaman’. The official movie synopsis reads:

“On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen”.

Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock). There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs or ours”.
