Doctor Strange was a visual spectacle that everyone totally loved to watch. It was a great Superhero origin story which took us to the mystical world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It introduced us to the Sorcerer Supreme in the best way possible. Many fans had been wondering whether we will get to see a Doctor Strange 2 or not.
Well most recently during a chat with Cinema Blend, Feige revealed that Strange is definitely going to be back for more solo flicks. Here’s what he said:
“Sometimes it’s where do those characters pop up? [Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange [movie], which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of Infinity War. So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”
After having this confirmation, we just can’t stop to think about the number of ways in which the good Doctor could actually return for the sequel after getting disintegrated with Thanos’ Big Snap. Well here are a number of ways through which we could see Strange return in Avengers 4 and ready for another solo outing:
The Soul World
Right after the disintegration, the first thing that we all thought looking at the dust was that all the characters who have died like that will have actually gone into the Soul World in the Soul Stone. So they are not in fact dead, but their souls are trapped in the Soul World. The Avengers would then obviously have to figure out a way in which they could bring back Doctor Strange and others from the Soul World.
Wong
As we saw in Infinity War, the sidekick of the Sorcerer Supreme actually got to spend more time on the screen than the sidekicks of Captain America, Falcon, and Bucky. But we only got to see him the beginning of the movie during the second Battle of New York where Wong fought Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian along with Doctor Strange, Banner, Iron Man and Spidey. Well, since the Maw took Doctor Strange along with him, Wong departed to guard the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Since he is also engaged with the Mystical World he will now have the entire library of Sanctorum to himself so he could actually come up with a new way of bringing back Strange, either through Time Travel (somehow) or even use Dark Magic once and for all.
The Quantum Realm
Perhaps if Wong is not able to figure out a way to make Time Travel possible in the MCU without the Eye of Agamotto, then the other heroes of MCU could come into play. Since Avengers 4 is going to be a full on Time Travel event, the most probable way to introduce that would actually be through the Quantum Realm which will be explored further in Ant-Man and the Wasp. As we know that Space and Time are irrelevant here, this is probably the way that the heroes will have the major time travel sequences in Avengers 4. This may be how Doctor Strange and the others could be brought to the future from the past.
Alternate Timeline
The thing that may actually happen in Avengers 4 is the creation of alternate Timelines. If the heroes are going to the past through Time Travel, then it is very obvious that what they do from there on would actually alter what has happened in the future. Through this, they could actually prevent the Big Snap of Thanos from ever happening. So, let’s see how Marvel and the Russos have played this card.
Thanos Needs Help from Strange
Now, this would be pure insanity! In the Infinity War comic storyline, after being done with the Big Finger Snap, and a fierce battle with the Avengers, a totally new Cosmic Being emerged out of nowhere who was even bigger than Thanos himself, so that is what led to Thanos fighting with the Avengers temporarily.
Since Thanos’ character motivations were different in Infinity War being that of an anti-hero who ultimately wants the better of the Universe, we could see the emergence of this cosmic being actually threatening the very existence of the Universe which the Mad Titan has sacrificed and fought so hard to save. This would lead him to team up with the Avengers for a while, and since they are going to need all the help they can get, Thanos could bring back the big guns like Doctor Strange and possibly all the other Supers that he disintegrated.
