Iron Man vs Thanos: How Tony Stark Can Defeat The Mad Titan in Avengers 4

Infinity War has taken the MCU to whole another level in terms of spectacle and visual effects. The movie was the ultimate comic-book thriller that fans have waited for a decade since MCU arrived in 2008.

In many ways, the Infinity War was different than all previous MCU movies as it had real stakes, darker tone, and a strong villain. Indeed, there has been no villain that has been as impactful and layered as the Mad Titan. Not even Loki, Hela or Killmonger comes close to Josh Brolin’s Thanos in the sheer level of villainy and sense of righteousness this guy oozed on screen. Thanos did not just break the Avengers, he broke the whole universe.

He wanted the six Infinity Stones so that he could bring balance to the universe by wiping out half of all life in the cosmos, which he did at the snap of his fingers wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. He took control of cosmic singularities and laid waste to the entire galaxy.

No Bad Guy has ever come even close to representing the level of god-like power the mad Titan does. Yet, the only hero Thanos himself acknowledged being a worthy opponent in Infinity War was none other than the Armored Avenger, Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

Iron Man was the only guy who was strong enough to go toe to toe with the Mad Titan in a one on one fight and live to tell the tale. But he was still defeated in Infinity War. In fact, Dr. Strange had to trade his life for an Infinity stone (Time stone) he vowed to protect under all circumstances but something tells us that keeping Tony alive is part of his larger scheme. Anyways, So, What went wrong? Was there any chance of Tony Stark winning the fight? Presenting Iron Man vs Thanos: how Tony Stark can defeat the Mad Titan.

NOTE – We will be taking into account the movie versions of the characters and not the comic book counterparts…..

Iron Man

Tony Stark is a genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. He also happens to be in possession of a suit of armor that can literally turn into any weapon he wishes. The Bleeding Edge armor is the latest in a long line of armored suits that Tony Stark has designed for himself to battle evil. All his suits have the basic criteria – superhuman durability, flight, super strength and an AI that could count from a million to one backward before even you could say go.

But the true ingenuity of Tony Stark lies within his mind. His mind has been the very thing that has bailed him out of precarious situations on more than one occasion. Tony Stark also happens to be a meticulous planner and a fan of contingencies.

Thanos

Thanos of Titan is not your regular Marvel Villain. His purpose for obtaining the Infinity Gauntlet is not shrouded in sinister secrecy. He lays all his chips on the table and actually makes sense when he explains his purpose for trying to commit universal genocide. He has a chain mail sense of purpose and direction and he has the mettle to back it up. He is strong enough to defeat the Hulk in a one on one fight and even hold Thor, considered one of the Avengers’ strongest members, in place with just one hand.

He is a genius on the levels of Tony Stark, maybe even more. He is durable enough o take several blows from prominent Avengers like Star-Lord, Strange and Iron Man and still be able to defeat them. Even Mantis said that his mental capacity is too strong for her to control him. That means Thanos is also partially immune to telepathy and has mental resistance against psychic attacks. A worthy villain, he truly is.

Final Fight – Iron Man vs Thanos

The fight might sound ludicrous to you. Iron Man was defeated by Thanos in Infinity War, wasn’t he? Why are we having this discussion again? The thing is, what happened to Iron Man in Infinity War was indeed unfortunate. We are just trying to find out a way, a scenario where Tony Stark could have defeated Thanos and ended his reign of terror before it as too late.

And we have it!! Want to know how Iron Man could have defeated Thanos in infinity War??

The answer is – Uru. The mystical metal from Asgard is by far the only thing that could have taken on Thanos, considering the fight parameters stay the same, meaning Thanos is wearing a Four Stone studded Infinity Gauntlet. Remember the Stormbreaker?? The magical hammer forged for Thor that took on the might of the six Infinity Stones and still managed to pierce Thanos’ chest. That was made of Uru.

If Tony Stark could have gotten his hands on some Uru, he could have molded a suit of armor out of it. An Uru Iron Man armor is not a concept. It has made its appearance in the comic books. A simple axe dealt more damage to Thanos than all the Avengers could.

Imagine what an Uru suit of armor forged in Nidavellir would have done. In comics, he infused his Extremis Armor with the divine will of Odin and forged weapons using Asgardian resources. So there you have the answer on how Iron Man can beat Thanos in Avengers 4.

The movie is set to come out in May 2019. The plot details are kept in secrecy but a brief synopsis has been released by an entertainment magazine, read it below:

“A culmination of 22 interconnected films, the fourth installment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
