Avengers: Infinity War – Here’s Why Thanos’ Snap Will Have No Effect On Marvel TV Shows

Avengers: Infinity War was the biggest and probably the best MCU movie ever. This was not your typical Marvel movie which is just a light-hearted fun adventure, but it was way more than that, having real stakes and consequences. The movie was a complete package as it had emotion, drama, suspense, thrill, humor, sci-fi moments and hardcore action. The movie ended in the most thrilling way possible and you would never have seen it coming and seeing the end we all had our jaws dropped on the floor.

But what really bothers us as fans is that this ending, which had half the population of the entire Universe being disintegrating at a snap of Thanos’ fingers did not affect the larger MCU, or I should more clearly mention the TV MCU. Agents of SHIELD is a show that shows the most amount of connection with the movies division and not just Easter Eggs and character name drops, but many characters from the movies themselves make appearances on the show.

Well, with the coming of Thanos, the show took a ballsy step by actually mentioning him, to which people expected that at the end of Season 5, we may actually see half of the characters turn to dust as well. But as it turned out, none of the characters got disintegrated and the show completely ignored the effects of the Finger Snap. This has us thinking that the same would be the case with all the Netflix shows as the upcoming Luke Cage, has already been shot, while Daredevil and the Punisher are still under production and as we know, all the main characters from the cast of those shows are involved with the shows.

So this really upsets us as Marvel always goes with the motto that everything is connected, but does not fully take that tagline to great lengths as the movies never acknowledge the shows, and the shows also ignore the big game changing events occurring in the movies. recently, Jeph Loeb,  Executive Vice President of Marvel Television was asked whether the effects of Thanos’ finger snap in Infinity War will catch on in the TV shows as well, and he what he said was towards the negative side as he mentioned that it “mostly” would not be the case.

Here’s what he said:

“For the most part our stories will take place BEFORE Thanos clicked his fingers. A lot of that has to do with production and when we are telling our stories vs. when the movies come out. So hang in there. I remember in the comics, one of my favorite stories was the KREE-SKRULL war… which was universal, but in X-Men, no mention. Huh. And it all worked out in the end!”

He does mention that the stories of these heroes will take place before Thanos’ finger snap and when the next seasons of these shows will arrive, Marvel will have already dealt with this situation reverting things in Avengers 4. But that still does not explain why Agents of SHIELD would ignore the effects of the snap as it was clearly running parallel to Infinity War, and the next season which will come out way before Avengers 4 will continue without acknowledging the snap at all.

Even though this does upset us, but we should be happy for the fact that if the shows who have limited cast members that shine throughout a season would acknowledge the snap, then they would actually end up ruining themselves as they will be showing lesser characters and will have to introduce unnecessary new characters to fill the void of those characters that have been disintegrating.  Agents of SHIELD would have deeply suffered due to this as they already may be losing their leader Phil Coulson for the next season, and losing characters through snap would have been tragic for the show.
