Avengers: Infinity War – Here’s How Each Infinity Stone Demanded Its Own Sacrifice That You Never Knew!!!

Avengers: Infinity War plot revolved around the Earth’s mightiest heroes ‘The Avengers’ and Guardians of the Galaxy banding together to stop Thanos the Mad Titan and his Black Order from collecting the six Infinity Stones which would ultimately grant him myriad God like powers as he would literally control the fundamental aspects of existence. Thanos wanted to wipe out half of all life in the universe to bring balance and it was the Avengers assemble standing between him and extermination of half the humanity.

As Thanos managed to get his hands on one Infinity Stone after another, he was able to assemble them in an Infinity gauntlet and brought our worse nightmares come true as he snapped his fingers. Fans were left to wonder as to why it was so easy for Thanos to get these primordial stones of power when many before him tried and failed to do the same.

As it turns out, one of the Infinity Stones did demand the supreme sacrifice from Thanos. By killing Gamora, Thanos’ beloved daughter, the latter managed to get the Soul Stone. But was it only the Soul Stone that cost so much? How about the other Infinity Stones? Why didn’t they demand an offering like the Soul Stone did? Turns out, they actually did. This new Infinity War Theory claims each Infinity Stone demanded its own sacrifice that you never knew!!!!

The Avengers’ did sacrifice a lot. Gamora, Loki, and Heimdall died pretty early in the movie. The other heroes followed suit after Thanos snapped his fingers while wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. Bucky, Drax, Star-Lord, Mantis, Groot, Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Spiderman also joined the casualty list.

But was it the only sacrifice the Stones demanded using their power? Was it even a sacrifice? Thanos used the stones to kill the heroes. A great power like that cannot be obtained without giving up something. The movie did show us that but that plot element went right under our noses. Fear not children, we are here to help you.

What is the real cost of using the Infinity Stones?

Stephen McFeely, the writer of the Infinity War movie, claims that every time Thanos acquires an Infinity Stone in the movie, someone dies. That is indeed true. A character has died literally every time a stone was added to the Gauntlet. The movie did show us death but it was put together in such a marvelous way that we were unable to grasp the story’s true purpose.

Thanos may have been the one who used the Gauntlet to rewrite the codes of creation but he also faced the brunt of the aftermath. The Avengers did lose a lot in the movie. When your own friends and allies die before your very eyes, you know you have been scarred for eternity. But were the Avengers the only one who paid for Thanos using the Infinity Stones?

Thanos is a being of sheer conviction and he is ready to do anything to right the wrongs he could have righted a long time ago. Going by that logic, Thanos should have been the happiest creature alive after the events of Infinity War. But when Gamora asks Thanos (after he snapped his fingers) in the soul world as to what did it cost, Thanos replies “Everything.” Why is that?

Let’s take a look at what exactly obtaining each Infinity Stone cost Thanos:

Power Stone – The Power Stone was supposed to be handed over to Thanos by Ronan, the Kree Warlord. But a slight misjudgment leads to Ronan rebelling against the Mad Titan. As a result, Thanos had to destroy an entire planet he originally wanted to just sack and then leave it alone.

It wasn’t shown in the movie how he got the Power stone aka Orb but he must have destroyed Xandar and slaughtered Nova Corps responsible for safeguarding the Infinity stone handed to them by none other than Star-Lord.

Space Stone – The Space Stone aka Tesseract could be the doom of Thanos. Thor believed it was destroyed with the destruction of Asgard but Loki stole it. When Thanos comes for the Space Stone, he kills Loki. As a result, Thor now holds a lifelong grudge against Thanos. And the God of thunder will probably be the one who will kill him. Well, he came very close to it as he stabbed Thanos with ‘Stormbreaker’ but next time he should aim for the head.

Reality Stone – The cost of the Reality Stone is still ambiguous. He did kill the Collector to obtain it. And judging by the conversation the two were having, Tivan used to be a friend of Thanos, or at the very least Thanos knew Tivan personally. Losing an ally when Thanos has so little of them is a pretty good deal-breaker.

Soul Stone – One Word: Gamora.

Well, Thanos lost the one person he loved in his entire life i.e his daughter and he had tears in his eyes when he sacrificed her.

Time Stone – When Strange decides to give up on his oath to protect the Time Stone at all costs, we know something is up. He said clearly that he would choose the Stone over Tony and Parker’s life if it comes to that. Strange knew just how to defeat Thanos in the long run as he has ‘seen it all’. He saw over 14 million outcomes and Avengers lose every time except one. Maybe the Time Stone shows the way to victory for the Avengers.

Mind Stone – He had the five Infinity stones after Dr. Strange gave up Time stone in exchange of Tony’s life, so Thanos teleported himself to Wakanda for the one last Infinity stone. Scarlett Witch destroyed Mind stone before Thanos could have it but he reversed the time using Time stone and removed it from Vision’s forehead, subsequently killing him.

Obtaining the Mind Stone and completing the Gauntlet finally gives Thanos the power to wipe out half the universe. But only after he achieves his goal, the self-realization of having lost ‘everything’ to achieve it, hits the Mad Titan like a thunderstorm. The beginning of the end for Thanos has begun.
