Did Ryan Reynolds Just Tease a Deadpool Movie for MCU Phase 5?

Kevin Feige has given us the projects to look forward to for the next 2 years. But since we all know that there’s much more in development, we just cannot wait to know what all of that is. Moreover, we’re all extremely inquisitive about what’s Marvel going to do with the Fox properties. Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Fantastic Four and projects involving mutants are in development. But Deadpool is a sole property that is extremely viable right now and should get to continue his franchise. So, what are Marvel’s plans for the merc with a mouth?

Marvel announced their slate for Phase 4 and all those films did not include any of the Fox characters. A while back, Kevin Feige confirmed that it’s going to be a while before the Fox properties will come into play since Marvel already has plans in motion. He told iO9:

“It’ll be a while. It’s all just beginning and the five-year plan that we’ve been working on, we were working on before any of that was set. So really it’s much more, for us, less about specifics of when and where [the X-Men will appear] right now and more just the comfort factor and how nice it is that they’re home. That they’re all back. But it will be a very long time.”

Now Ryan Reynolds has taken it to Instagram to perhaps tease DP’s arrival into the MCU. He is celebrating the leak that resulted in the making of the first Deadpool movie. Back in 2014, the Deadpool test footage that was sitting on Fox’s shelves for a few years was leaked on the internet and the response to that was tremendous. It internet exploded and everyone wanted a Deadpool movie. That’s when Reynolds was brought back and the Deadpool movie was put in motion.

It has been 5 years since the leak and the leaker has still not been caught. Reynolds sneakily put in Phase 5 referring to the 5th year of the investigation against the leaker. While all this doesn’t really mean anything for sure, people are suspecting that Reynolds may have teased Deadpool to be a part of the MCU in Phase 5.

It will make sense for Marvel to do that but where exactly will the project be placed? Will it even be a part of MCU’s continuity or will the next Deadpool movie continue Fox’s running franchise? It is a question that will be answered in the coming years.

Deadpool 2 Marvel Phase 4 Deadpool

Deadpool 2 director David Leitch addressed a Deadpool movie not being a part of the Phase 4 slate. He went on to say that he doesn’t really know the future of Dp, and he recently told Uproxx that we need to be patient. He said:

“I don’t [know], honestly. And it’s not for my lack of trying. And I also want to give – I’m just giving everybody their time. I know Marvel announced their slate and I think people were like, ‘Deadpool’s not on it.’ I would never say never. And I think, obviously, he’s such a beloved character and it’s such a compelling world people want to go back. And I think they will find a way to do it. But I’m just being patient and let everybody take a breath and see how it works for them in the new Marvel, Disney world. And, hopefully, I’ll get the call. And that would be cool.”

Marvel Slate 2021

Our wish of seeing Deadpool and Logan in the MCU may take a while, but David Leitch certainly has ideas for how Deadpool could make his own way within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He continued:

“What’s great about Deadpool, like you kind of just said, you can put him in with any one of those characters, or an ensemble of those characters, and it just sort of magnifies what you’re doing. It adds another layer. So that’s probably one aspect that they are entertaining, and hopefully they are entertaining more ideas as well. And, honestly, I’m sure there are people who want it more than me, but it would be hard-pressed to find them. I love that world. I love working with Ryan. I love that character, Deadpool. So, fingers crossed we get to bring another installment to life.”

Let’s see what Marvel does with DP.
