Infinity War: Spider-Man Displays Brand New Superpower You Never Even Noticed

Avengers Infinity War is the biggest MCU movie of the decade as it featured the most epic showdown between Thanos and Avengers Assemble that fans have been dying to see on the big screen for so long. It is the ultimate comic book thriller which has pleased everyone from die-hard fans to critics. The Russos have pulled off a rare cinematic feat and has taken MCU to whole another level.

Avengers 4 is one year away but Avengers: Infinity War is already in theaters and running successfully. The movie is about to cross $2 Billion at the Box office and is already the highest grossing superhero movie ever. It’s the fastest title to have reached $1 Billion in Box office sales worldwide in just 8 days.

The MCU superheroes were all amazing and put up strong performances but Thanos was the showstopper. He is surely the best MCU villain ever who wasn’t just a Mad Titan but there was a method to his madness. He truly scared the living hell out of Avengers and Guardians and crushed their tiny plans to prevent him from assembling six Infinity stones in the gauntlet and wiping out half the life in the universe at the snap of his fingers.

One thing that really stood out the most was the GOT Level Cliffhanger that shocked us to the core. While death knocked on many doors in Avengers: Infinity War, it still rocked the humongous Marvel fan base to its very core. We all knew heroes were going to die. We knew there will be departures. We feared the worst and expected the worst.

And yet, just when we thought we were ready, turns out we weren’t. The deaths of our favorite superheroes hit us like a category 5 Earthquake, rocking our foundations and changing our perception of the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever.

Every superhero that has been a part of the MCU in their 18 movies long parade before Infinity War was a part of Infinity War. Among those entrants, Spider-Man is a relatively new one. He was introduced into the MCU in Captain America: Civil War when he was picked by Tony Stark to fight for his team. He lifted Cap’s Shield and showed some great moves which as impressive given the fact that it was his first gig.

He was mentored by Stark and got an upgraded suit to take down Vulture. But in Infinity War, he wore the most advanced tech suit, also known as ‘Iron Spider’ which allowed him to travel to outer space and do other cool stuff. Well, for starters, he was the reason why Strange was rescued and Maw died as he has seen “too many” movies.

He was incredibly brave and his role was decisive in fighting Thanos and his Black Order. And now here’s the fun fact – Spider-Man did power up in Infinity War. He showed everyone a new ability that went right under everyone’s noses. That’s right, folks!! In Infinity War, Spider-Man displays a brand new Superpower you never even noticed!!!

SPOILER ALERT: Massive Spoilers for Infinity War up ahead….

The climax of Infinity War will be forever etched into our memories as one of the greatest in cinematic history. Many mainstream heroes like Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Bucky Barnes, Starlord and Falcon died. But the one that hit us the hardest on the feels was the death of Spiderman. “Mr. Stark, I don’t want to go.” Those are the lines that will be remembered forever as for how genre-defining Infinity War actually was.

Keeping with the MCU traditions, the Russo Brothers ensured that Spider-Man’s death is not without his own Easter egg. When the rest of the heroes were dying, they went silently. They withered away quietly into the night. But it was only Spider-Man who realized what was going on. Thanos said that the death he is ‘gifting’ to half the universe is painless and no one will see it coming.

Yet Spider-Man knew he was going to die. He was nervous. Spider-Man knew about his imminent death seconds later. Is this how the MCU is trying to bring the famous ‘Spider Sense’ into play? He is the only one who seems to know that ‘something’s wrong’. The back of his head is tingling. So the question is – Is the Spider-Sense (which was absent in Homecoming) going to be a permanent part of Spider-Man when Peter Parker comes back to life in Avengers 4?

Was Spider-Man’s Spider-sense how Peter knew he was going to die?

The first look at Spider sense could be the hair-raising goose bumps Spider-Man gets when Thanos’ Q-Ship lands in New York. Spider-Man races into action soon after but the fact that remains is, Spider-Man knew something was wrong long before anyone else did. He never exhibited the ability to sense incoming threats before. Homecoming never showed us that. So why now!!! Maybe, deep down, his Spider-Sense was telling him he was soon going to die.

Spiderman has died plenty of times in the comics but his Spider-Sense giving him the ‘tingle’ was never a plot point in those stories. So when the MCU decided to give this little trinket some screen time in a movie that is already crowded with more than two dozen mainstream characters, we have to believe that it served a greater purpose.

Was it really Spider-Sense or could there be a logical explanation to all this??

Spiders have what we call Trichobothria. Each hair in their body is connected to a highly sensitive, isolated nerve ending. This gives them the ability to sense even the most minute of variations in their surroundings. When the Q-Ship lands in New York, Spiderman could have sensed the change in air current via his Trichobothria

. So there could be some scientific basis to that phenomenon there.

But what about changes in reality! No matter how many nerve-wracking endings you have, sensing something of that magnitude requires you to have some sort of supernatural connection to an outside force.

The Spider-Sense, in the comic books, is a supernatural ability of Spiderman which stems from the fact that Spiderman is a Spider-Totem of the Multi-verse and is connected to a supernatural force called the ‘Web of Life’.

Marvel may come up with another explanation. Maybe it wasn’t supernatural. Maybe it was just a premonition or even intuition. But until then, in the comic book facts, we trust.

Avengers Infinity War is playing successfully at a theater near you. It is directed by Russo brothers who are an amazing duo with an impeccable track record of making two Captain America movies – Winter Soldier and Civil War.

It is produced by Kevin Feige with a group of executive producers including Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo. The screenplay is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
