The Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony Russo, are the Co-Directors of Avengers: Infinity War. They have pulled off a cinematic feat managing over 60 comic-book characters and their story arcs are interwoven into a compelling script. The ending really sent shivers down the spine of everyone as nobody saw it coming. Whatever they said prior to the release of the movie came to be true, here’s what they said:
“This is it. Thanos is an unstoppable villain he’s virtually invincible, he’s highly intelligent – genius level intelligent – he’s like the Genghis Khan of the universe, and to stop him it’s going to cost them a lot. They’re going to have to see if they’re willing to pay that price, and that’s what these movies are really about. What we want is for the audience to be prepared, as there’s a lot of surprises – there’s going to be a lot of humor and a lot of heartbreak.”
Thanos was consumed by a single goal i.e to bring balance to the universe. He thinks that the population is growing at a high rate and resources are finite, so the only way out of poverty and squalor is the extermination of half the life in the entire universe. In his own story, he is the hero who will save the galaxy.
He is a powerful Cosmic entity with Black Order and an army of Outriders but it’s not enough to achieve the grand purpose on the scale he wants. So he came looking for the Infinity Stones scattered around the universe. He first attacked Xandar and destroyed Nova Corps to retrieve Power Stone aka Orb.
He then blocked Asgardian Refugee ship steered by Thor, he slaughtered innocent Asgardians; royally beat Hulk, killed Heimdall and Loki to acquire Tesseract which he broke with his bare hands to obtain the Space stone.
Further, he went to Knowhere and burned the whole place down including ‘The Collector’ for the Reality stone. He then sacrificed his loved daughter Gamora for the Soul stone at Vormir. He forced Dr. Strange to give up Time stone in exchange of sparing Tony’s life. And then he went to Earth for the Mind stone.
But despite the Earth’s mightiest heroes’ best efforts; he got what he came for. Thanos snapped his fingers and half of all life in the whole universe gets wiped out in an instant.
The Russo Brothers have been answering the most popular of fans’ queries ever since the third Avengers movie ended in a mother of all cliffhangers.
The end of Infinity War tended to focus on mainly the superheroes that fought against Thanos. But what about the mainstream secondary characters like Betty Ross, Lady Sif and Aunt May? We finally have an answer to that glaring question as well. Infinity War Directors finally confirm the fate of three MAJOR female characters!!!
The Earth bore the brunt of Thanos’ rampage when the mad Titan came knocking. The Black Order only was able to barely scratch the surface before Thanos really did some damage in the climax of the movie. The movie showed us that the heroes were not the only ones that died in the movie.
The aftermath of Thanos’ snap was felt worldwide. Cars started to crash and Helicopters and planes fell down from the sky as the drivers and the pilots started vanishing without any reason. Even Nick Fury and Maria Hill weren’t spared. Fury did manage to send an SOS to Carol Susan Jane Danvers aka Captain Marvel before withering away.
So who else did fall prey other than Maria Hill and Fury? The Huffington Post managed to ask this question to the Russo brothers who were quick to come up with a reply. Turns out Marvel Studios had a calculated response prepared to answer such a question just in case it fell on their laps. When asked about the fate of these female characters, the Russo brothers give us their take on the cliffhanger that will haunt the universe forever.
Let’s take a quick look at the fate of these characters:
Betty Ross was portrayed by Liv Tyler in the movie The Incredible Hulk opposite Edward Norton who played the titular superhero. Betty was a troubled woman torn between her father’s ambitions and her love for the object of his father’s misery, Bruce Banner. Betty Ross helps Banner to get rid of his Hulk persona but would later see her love turn back into the Jade Giant to defeat the Abomination. Betty Ross has no way of being a part of the MCU anymore since the movie itself is now unofficially considered canon. Betty is now dead, say the Russo brothers.
Jamie Alexander already has too many projects in her hand. That is exactly why she couldn’t be a part of 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. Scheduling conflicts prevented her from coming back to the MCU. Jamie’s absence in Thor 3 prevented her from fighting Hela. She was reportedly going to be killed in the movie.
The fans theorized Lady Sif was away on a mission during Ragnarok so maybe that is why she couldn’t be in Thor 3. Infinity War has killed off Lady Sif’s character. Although a beauty like Jamie leaving the MCU is saddening, it was just inevitable.
The cougar of Manhattan, Aunt May won not just the hearts of Tony Stark but that of the millions of viewers who went to the theaters to watch Homecoming as well. The death of Spiderman will hit Marisa Tomei’s character hard. Since she now knows that Peter is Spiderman, maybe she will end up blaming Tony Stark for her nephew’s untimely death.
Aunt May is rumored to be alive within the MCU after Infinity War. She along with other minor characters like Ned Leeds, Korg, Miek and Shuri will play an important role in Avengers 4.
Avengers: Infinity War is now currently in theaters. It has blown everyone’s minds and shattered box office records. The movie is officially now the highest grossing superhero movie of all times. It is also the fastest ever to reach $1 Billion in Box office collections i.e in just 8 days. The movie is directed by Russo Brothers and produced by Kevin Feige & Co. The script is co-written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
The cast is beyond imagination as for the first time some of the biggest stars have been assembled under common roof including Josh Brolin (Thanos), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Karen Gillian (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Paul Bettany (Vision), Peter Dinklage (Eitri), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill).
The official film synopsis reads:
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just… do things
