Major Moon Knight Cameos That Got Cut During The Final Editing
Many fans have complained about Moon Knight not having enough connections to the main MCU. Then again, some viewers liked it because it gave its team a bit of creative freedom. But did you know that in the original plan, Marvel planned to feature 2 cameos to connect the show with the bigger universe? However, the creative editors decided to cut it from the final draft. And we believe who those 2 cameos planned to feature. Keep up with the post to find out more about the Moon Knight cameos.
Disney+’s Moon Knight started out as a limited series on a beloved character from Marvel comics, Moon Knight. And just like any other show, it was supposed to feature major comics to connect it with the bigger narrative. But the creative execs wanted a series that will stand out by being an independent series, rather than depending on the success of other Marvel projects for its success. And I think I speak for everyone when I say that they achieved this by focussing mainly on the troubled mind of Marc Spector.
Not to mention, Marc’s battle of wits with Arthur Harrow as an Avatar of Khonshu and Ammit, respectively. But what if they had featured the two rumored cameos too. How would they have worked through it? Who could they have been? And how could they have connected Moon Knight with the bigger MCU?
HULK’S CAMEO WAS CUT BY MOON KNIGHT?
The first cameo could have been Bruce Banner’s. And when you think about it, it makes sense. First of all, the main reason is that Bruce himself has been going through a condition very similar to Moon Knight’s DID. This series has taken this disorder and presented it really well. It was disheartening to see Marc struggle alone, and Bruce Banner would have helped him through the journey. Plus, Banner’s current physical situation could have helped point a finger at Moon Knight’s position in MCU’s timeline.
We believe the first cameo was Hulk because some media reporters spotted Ruffalo near Moon Knight’s set. He was even seen with Oscar Isaac so we think it’s safe to assume that he is one of the cameos that could have been. But it’s a good thing that he didn’t appear because if he came, it would confirm the reality from the illusion. That would have taken all the fun from the show.
THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE SECOND BLADE’S VOICE CAMEO
Another cameo character that makes sense to be included in Moon Knight is Blade. Blade, played by Mahershala Ali, has already teased his existence in the post-credits scene of Eternals with a one-line voice cameo. His appearance in the post-credits scene made sense because he and Dane Whitman (Black Knight) has been co-members of the long-awaited Midnight Sons. And so is Moon Knight. He is another mystical being in the team so Blade coming in to recruit him would have made for a cool interaction.
OTHER CONTENDERS FOR THE DELETED CAMEO-
MCU is a 14-year-long franchise with 28 movies under its belt. The franchise includes tens of characters and will include hundreds in the coming future. So to point out two from them is almost impossible. We tried and we could be right but we also could be wrong. So here are some characters that could have cameo-ed in Moon Knight.
Sharon Carter/ Power Broker last appeared as the reigning Mafia Queen of Madripoor. And Moon Knight didn’t shy away from name-teasing this imaginary country, so it would make sense if Layla and Anton Bogart crossed paths with the Power Broker.
Werewolf by Night was another potential cameo that might have made this series more fun. But at the cost of the loss of focus on Marc and Steven which would have been catastrophic. But the creative team did tease him in one of the scenes. Moon Knight has a significant connection with the character, being introduced in one of WfN issues, so his cameo would have made for a nice tribute to the character.
Other than those, we could have seen Wong, Doctor Strange, or one of Jonathan Majors’ variants. We could have also seen Gorr the God Butcher, appearing to quench his thirst for God’s blood. All these cameos would have been great, and some would have been too great. So we think it’s nice that the creative team edited them out to keep this story pure and confusing, at the same time.
These were the Moon Knight cameos that got cut. Which cameo would you like to see in Moon Knight season 2? Drop your answers down in the comments.
