After Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman shattered Box Office records and became the DC Extended Universe’s first official blockbuster that performed well both financially and critically, the Studio aims to bank on the movie’s success and make a sequel out of it starring Gal Gadot in the titular role as the Amazonian Princess. Wonder Woman 2 is definitely happening. The casting decisions are being made in full swing. After Kristen Wiig was recently in news for being cast as Cheetah, the big bad of Wonder Woman 2; another huge star has been chosen to star in the sequel. This particular star is the poster child for the hit Netflix TV Show Narcos.
Warner Bros. Studios and DC films have just cast Pedro Pascal of Netflix’s Narcos fame in the lead role of Wonder Woman 2. The Studio hasn’t fond as much success as it had hoped for when the DC Extended Universe was officially declared to be kicking off with the release of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. BVS and the next movie inline for the DCEU, Suicide Squad released later that year in August weren’t successful enough. They did score major points at the Box Office but failed to garner enough appreciation from the critics to be called a critical high point of the DCEU. Then there’s Wonder Woman. It swept every one of their feet as Gal Gadot portrayed the super-heroine beautifully on screen. Wonder Woman was both a critical and financial success and earned more than 821 Million USD worldwide.
Wonder Woman was DC’s first true blockbuster. Will the sequel break its predecessor’s records??
The answer is a hard yes. The success of Wonder Woman has prompted the Studio to keep it simple and straight like it did last time with Wonder Woman. The sequel will see Patty Jenkins return as the director for the movie. Gal Gadot will star as the eponymous Amazon warrior. The movie will see Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig, be the big bad wolf this time. The Wonder Woman sequel has a release date of November 2019 and production has been slated to start a few months later this year. And now they have a new guy who is just as talented as the super-powered star cast of the sequel itself.
Variety Magazine recently reported that Pedro Pascal has been cast for a key role in Wonder Woman 2. Pascal, who has also portrayed popular characters in extremely popular TV Series like Game of Thrones, Narcos and even been a part of an action blockbuster Kingsman: The Golden Circle, will be reportedly portraying the role of Rex, the slippery Con Man, in Wonder Woman 2. This is not Pedro Pascal’s first rodeo with Patty Jenkins though. He has also worked with her previously in Exposed, a TV movie.
Here is Pascal’s twitter handle confirming the news of him being cast in Wonder Woman 2:

The Studio hasn’t given the fans much to talk about for the Wonder Woman sequel. Patty Jenkins has taken on the additional role of co-writing the script for the movie along with Geoff Johns. She will have more creative clout for the movie. Wonder Woman’s official; plotline hasn’t been released yet. But we do know that the movie is set in the 1980’s at the end of the Cold War and will feature Chris Pine who will return to the sequel as Steve Trevor. Diana will have more allies in Man’s World to fight her next battle with Cheetah. We have no idea as of yet as to how Pascal will be involved within the movie. He could be anyone. He could be one of the good guys or just a brawn working for Kristen Wiig’s’ character.
Pascal is an accomplished actor of the Hollywood industry. He is most famously remembered as Oberyn Martell of House Martell in Game of Thrones. He also portrayed Agent Pena in Narcos Season 1, 2 and 3. Pascal also had a key role where he played Agent Whiskey in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the sequel to Kingman: The Secret Service based on the bestselling Mark Millar comic book series. Pascal is the right guy for the job. Now we just need to find out what role he will be playing. We will keep you posted on further developments.
