For the audience to love a character it is essential that they can appreciate the actor playing the part. A good actor can make a dull character interesting and can give a whole new dimension to the character. CW has had many successful shows till now and the CW casting played a huge role in the success. These are some of the actors who were appreciated for their acting in CW shows:
10. Sophia Bush- One Tree Hill:
This mega-successful teen show ended in 2012 but is still appreciated for its characters, actors, plot and the issues it chose to portray. One tree hill is one of the best teen shows ever made and the character of Brooke Davis was an instant hit with the audience. Sophia Bush was one of the strongest actors on the show and she completely owned her character and made it seem so real. Casting her was the best decision for the show and its makers.
9. Leighton Meester- Gossip Girl:
Gossip Girl was a very successful show for CW and it introduced us to many new young faces. Leighton Meester played the role of Blair Waldorf on the show and her character became so popular that she is still a sensation in the pop culture even though the show ended years ago. Her acting was good and she made us believe she was the real queen bee of the show.
8. Jensen Ackles- Supernatural:
Another successful CW show is Supernatural and it has been around for a long time now. The show that gave us two handsome hunks trying to fight supernatural elements also had some awesome casting. Jensen Ackles plays the character of Dean Winchester who is a total badass and a fan favorite character. The show has been a hit since 2005 and is still going strong.
7. Nina Dobrev- The vampire diaries:
When she started out on this show it seemed like the role of Elena was just another teenage girl caught in a supernatural love triangle with no depth. Later the character became interesting and Nina Dobrev got many opportunities to showcase her talent as she played different versions of Elena Gilbert. She also became one of the most popular actors on any CW show and the show suffered when she left.
6. Rachel Bloom- Crazy ex-girlfriend:
Rachel Bloom is not only the lead of the show but is also the co-creator and writer of her show crazy ex-girlfriend. She has been praised for her portrayal of a disturbed woman going through mental illness and has won 2 Golden Globes for her incredible performance. Her comic timing is impeccable and she has made the show highly successful.
5. Camila Mendes- Riverdale:
Riverdale is a current favorite CW show and for good reason. The show has everything a good teen show needs. From teen rivalries, drama, romance mixed with some thriller, Riverdale has brought back teen shows with a twist. Veronica Lodge is simply the most intriguing teen on the show and is played flawlessly by newbie Camila Mendes. While most of the younger cast seems inexperienced and redundant in their portrayals, Mendes is a breath of fresh air.
4. Rose Mciver- iZombie:
This show is extremely interesting and follows the life of Liv, a zombie who takes on the personality of any human whose brain she consumes. You can imagine how the lead has to play a different character regularly and Rose Mciver’s versatility has proved itself useful here. Her acting I understated and brilliant and she is definitely a great find for CW.
3. Cress Williams- Black lighting:
Talking about versatile actors we cannot leave out Cress Williams who has played a variety of different roles till now and is playing a superhero in Black lighting. This is a different kind of superhero story where a divorced father tries to save the world. The role is perfect for Williams and casting him is a win-win for CW.
2. Gina Rodriguez- Jane the virgin:
If you have seen this comedy series then you must be a fan of the talented actress Gina Rodriguez who carries the whole show on her back while being hilarious on the show. She is also one of the only two actors who have won a Golden Globe for their performance on a CW show. The show is about a girl who wants to stay a virgin till she gets married but accidentally gets impregnated during a medical checkup.
1. Tom Cavanagh- Flash:
Flash is a show where every important character has had an alter ego and sometimes multiple. Tom Cavanaugh has played many different incarnations of his own character and has proved he has serious acting chops. He keeps the audience engaged every time he takes on a different version and plays it brilliantly. He is one of the best casting choices ever made by a CW show.
