Will Black Panther Make More Than $1 Billion?

Black Panther is out and it satisfies every bit of the hype that has been all around the world. The movie easily hits the Top 3 Marvel movie spots and was surely the best Superhero origin story beating Iron Man. Black Panther was nothing we have ever seen before. It was just sheer perfection. The movie had everything, it had emotion, it had heart, it had humor, it had drama, it had mind-blowing action, and all over, it had a great plot.

Ryan Coogler and team tried to explain each and every aspect they touched in the best way possible. Every cast member was on top of their game delivering exactly what was intended by the directors and the writers. This movie would not have worked in any other year. It was just the perfect timing for this movie to come out. Even the timeline of the story was written and incorporated into the MCU amazingly well.

The movie is out just 3 days and it has already broken a number of records, and it is on track to make and break even more records. As the embargo of the movie lifted, it got nothing but positive reviews from the critics who can sometimes be very harsh, but here had nothing but hails of praises for the movie. It got a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the first day, and as more reviews started coming in, the rating still did not go down as it does very often with all other movies. The final rating of the movie stands 97% certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after more than 250 critics have reviewed the movie.

But the biggest thing everyone has been talking about for the last month is the money this movie is going to make at the box office. Right from the time when the ticket presales started, the movie analysts saw Black Panther earning a very good $90 Million within the first week of its release at the US box office. As time passed, the predictions for the first week rose to a $120 Million. Then it kept on rising like money rises in an auction. After a day or two, new reports started to come in with, 125, 130, 135, 140, and it kept on rising and rising, until the predictions went over $200 Million and people started losing their minds.

Now, that the movie is out, it has already broken and equaled so many records. On its Thursday night release, it brought in $25 Million and equaled the record of Captain America: Civil War. Then it brought in a record-breaking $75.4 Million on Friday itself. Then the Saturday numbers were recorded at about $66 Million, and the Sunday numbers are being estimated to be over $60.2 Million.

The estimated earning of the movie on its opening weekend stands at $201 Million beating Avengers: Age of Ultron which had a $191 Million opening weekend. It now stands in the top five movies list including the movies that have had the biggest opening weekend ever. It is right along with Avengers, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Jurassic World, Avengers and now Black Panther. If you include the Thursday numbers as well, the movie then has an opening bigger than any other comic book movie, since the numbers land at $235 Million which is more than $25 Million over the Avengers.

So, the question asked here is that what will the movie make over a Billion dollars worldwide? Yes, it will because it currently stands at $404 Million. So, unless there is like a 70% drop in the earnings of the movie like there was at the time Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, or during Suicide Squad, there is nothing stopping this movie from getting to a $1 Billion and above worldwide.

Everything about the movie is just amazing. The biggest factor that played a major role in dropping the earnings of Batman V Superman was the harsh reviews of the critics. But here, the reviews are phenomenal, the movie opening was huge and the people are loving it. So yes it will make more than a Billion dollars, but it may not be able to beat the 2 Avengers movies that have come out till now, or it may, who knows, Box Office is too unpredictable.
