Team Flash, Arrow, Legends and Supergirl Vs 4 DC Supervillains and 1 Superhero

CW network is a paradise for DC superhero lovers. It has brought alive four major shows namely: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. The DC fans are super excited as the annual gala event on CW i.e mega crossover between four major shows – Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl which is less than a week away.

Last time, the crossover storyline was based on the comic-book plot of Super Friends coming together to fight the Dominators, a technologically advanced alien race hell-bent on destroying the potential threat of Earth’s meta-humans. It was officially kicked off in Supergirl, came into its full avatar in the Flash episode titled “Invasion”, continued in the special Arrow 100th episode and ended in Legends of Tomorrow. This time the Arrowverse superheroes are up against a bunch of bad guys on Earth-X.

The CW has already revealed the theme of the crossover on social media i.e Crisis on Earth X through a poster designed by legendary Wonder Woman artist Phil Jimenez. The story will revolve around how the rogue versions of superheroes and villains crash the wedding party of Barry Allen and Iris West. It will be grander, deadlier and stakes will be higher.

The new illustrated poster has revealed that the massive showdown will happen between Team Flash, Team Arrow, Legends, Supergirl against four known adversaries namely Prometheus, Reverse Flash, Overgirl, Metallo and DC superhero Red Tornado.

Metallo was introduced in Supergirl season 2 and it was very weak and forgettable bad guy. The show-makers heard the cries of Metallo fans and his Earth-X version is full AI unlike Supergirl’s half human version who was easily taken down. Red Tornado was briefly introduced in Supergirl season 1 episode titled “Red Faced” and android was shown destroyed and never came up again. He is a villain on Earth-X but in comics he is a good guy.

He was created as a force against the Justice League but he redeemed himself and embraced human alter-ego. It is possible that in the crossover, he will betray the villains and become force for good and officially join Arrowverse.

One of the evil villains who will be making a comeback is Earth-X version of Prometheus but it will not be played by Josh Segarra. In Arrow season 5, the show deliberately decided to do away with supernatural villains and instead chose a man who is D.A. of Star city and is out to avenge his father killed by Arrow in cold blood.

Prometheus literally turned the world of Green Arrow upside down and broke him both physically and mentally. He has made Oliver’s son William believe that his father is a bad man, as shown in the new Arrow trailer.

In the season 5 finale, Prometheus killed himself which led to multiple explosions on the Lian Yu causing death and destruction of seemingly everyone. He is clearly dead so the question is who could be Earth X Prometheus. In the season, Prometheus was always behind the mask and the most common theory about his identity was that he was a figure from Oliver’s past. It turned out to be Chase, so now fans are speculating that it could be Roy Harper on Earth-X as the actor Colton Haynes has also signaled his return to the show.

Recently, it was confirmed that Barry Allen- Iris West is’nt the only couple who will get married, another high profile couple of Arrorverse will tie the knot – Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak. Yes, you read it right. A set photo has revealed that CW Crossover is pulling off double wedding with Diggle standing by their side.

In DC Comics, Earth X is a parallel world set in pre-crisis multiverse where German won the World War II which forces the freedom fighters to wage a war against the Nazis. In the upcoming CW Seed animated feature Freedom Fighters: The Ray, we will learn more about the evil versions of our favorite superhero characters.

According to TVLine, Russell Tovey (Quantico fame) will be playing the character of Ray in live-action as he is also the voice of the character in animated version. His character description goes like this:

“Raymond “Ray” Terrill was a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a “genetic light bomb.” The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice — he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists.”

There are two promos that have been released till now by CW ahead of 4-way crossover.

The first promo is very brief but gave insight on what to expect from the upcoming crossover event. We can see Green Arrow leading the team comprising of The Flash, White Canary, Supergirl and Alex Danvers through the corridor of Star Labs on Earth-1. Most of the action will take place on Earth-X given the title itself. It is for the first time we see Alex in crossover, she was missing last time so it would be fun to see her interact with members of Team Flash, Team Arrow and Legends.

In the second teaser, the villains on Earth-X have been revealed. We can see an evil Flash, Nazi Supergirl and Arrow. We got a closer look at Nazi Oliver Queen pointing a Luger at someone; snippets of Cisco wearing formal dress before something blows up in the background. There is an intimate hug being thrown into the mix and then finally heroes lining up behind White canary, Alex Danvers and Kid Flash.

Here’s the official synopsis of CW crossover event:

“Barry (guest star Grant Gustin) and Iris’s (guest star Candice Patton) wedding brings the gang together, but things go awry when villains from Earth-X attack the ceremony. All of the superheroes band together with help from their super friends like Citizen Cold (guest star Wentworth Miller), The Ray (guest star Russell Tovey), Felicity Smoak (guest star Emily Bett Rickards), and Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) to take on their most formidable villains yet. Earth’s mightiest heroes – Green Arrow (guest star Stephen Amell), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), The Flash (guest star Grant Gustin) and White Canary (guest star Caity Lotz) – lead their teams into battle to save the world.”

The CW is going all guns blazing to make this year’s crossover bigger and better than last years’ which was a high-octane action adventure. The crossover will begin with Supergirl and Arrow on November 27 and concludes with Flash and Legends of Tomorrow on November 28.
