Arrowverse’s Crisis On Earth X Crossover Gives Villains A Deadly Doomsday Weapon

The CW’s Arrowverse has always been a rating juggernaut. The shows of The Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and the newly added Supergirl have made us stick to our seats, eyes glued to the screens as our beloved heroes fight the evil bad guys and supervillains of comic book lore to save the day. Individually, the shows have scored a new high in the history of the small screen entertainment industry. But it’s almost a ritualistic tradition wherein every year as each season of Arrowverse starts, a crossover between the superheroes takes place as they combine forces to battle a threat to bold and powerful for a single hero to take on.  This year CW gives us the Crisis on earth X Crossover.

After the Dominators’ invasion last time which put our heroes as the last line of defense against an alien invasion onslaught, this year’s Crisis on Earth X is prepared to take it up a notch. The enemy the arrowverse faces this time does not belong to another planet but an alternate earth from an entirely different reality. And it seems like the bad guys have somewhat of a trump card to help give them an added advantage. Something to turn the tables on the good guys.

Crisis on Earth X puts the superheroes from The Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow & Supergirl in the way of their evil doppelgangers form Earth X. And if that wasn’t bad enough, to begin with, the bad guys have a doomsday weapon of sorts. A weapon probably strong enough to kill an entire planet, maybe even an entire reality if the comic books are taken as reference.

Crossovers have always been an excuse for CW to bring their A-Game. When the stoic Oliver, the enthusiastic Flash, the quirky Supergirl and the happy-go-lucky Legends come together, their interactions are a touch of pure genius. I still laugh at the Rory’s ‘I will call you skirt’ comment to Supergirl. While the previous crossover did give us a spectacle of a lifetime, Crisis on Earth X looks promising enough to up the ante even further.

Amazon’s story looks something straight out of Amazon’s acclaimed The Man in the High Castle series. Earth X is an alternate reality where the Nazis, not the allies, won World War 2. As Germany goes on to conquer the world, the lives of our heroes’s counterparts of that reality get affected. They are born evil. They don’t save the kitten from the tree or save a guy from a mugger in a dark alley. They are objects of Nazi Government propaganda and help further their cause.

The heroes….er villains from the Earth X reality include evil counterparts of heroes like Overgirl – Supergirl, Prometheus X, and an Evil Green Arrow both exist in this reality, Metallo and Red Tornado as well as an evil version of The Flash who looks awfully similar to the Reverse Flash from Season 1 of The Flash(Harrison Wells???). Martian Manhunter does not join in in this crossover.

Arrowverse

While it would be cool to see Tom Cavanagh to reprise his role as the best and most iconic villain Arrowverse has ever produced, it is still unconfirmed whether he will play the evil speedster. Prometheus X from the evil reality will be played by either Adrian Chase or Roy Harper aka Arsenal. Melissa Benoist will be literally two-timing the arrowverse this season.

The crossover has her play both as Kara Danvers aka Supergirl and Overgirl of Earth X. It will be interesting to see who wins in a fight between the two women of steel. Leonard Snart, also Known as Captain Cold, will be reprising his role as Captain Cold for the last time in this crossover (**feels**). Russell Tovey as the light energy manipulating superhero The ray will join the fight on the side of the good guys.

The official synopsis of the upcoming crossover reads :

Barry and Iris’s wedding brings the gang together, but things go awry when villains from Earth-X attack the ceremony. All of the superheroes band together with help from their super friends like Citizen Cold, The Ray, Felicity Smoak, Iris West and Alex Danvers to take on their most formidable villains yet. Earth’s mightiest heroes – Green Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash and White Canary – lead their teams into battle to save the world.

The CW’s Crisis on Earth X crossover begins on November 27 with Supergirl and The Arrow and ends on November 28 with The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
