In the world of superheroes, anything is possible. As we all know, Marvel and DC are the biggest comic book publishing houses in the world. The fan-fights among Marvel and DC cheerleaders is as vitriolic and passionate as between liberals & conservatives or Democrats & Republicans. There is always a debate among comic-book enthusiasts as to which camp is doing better – Marvel or DC. But in peak nineties, they came together and merged their characters, teams and their universes to form some unbelievable characters which were printed under the name of Amalgam Comics. As most of these new characters were an amalgamation of their most famous characters like Batman and Wolverine became Dark Claw and many more.

 

So, today let’s learn about some badass characters that Marvel and DC created during Amalgam comics:

Super-Soldier

Super-Soldier is the amalgam of Superman (DC )and Captain America (Marvel). The US army gave super-soldier serum which was made from the cellular samples from an alien whose space rocket landed in 1938 to a 4-F volunteer, known by the name Clark Kent who was then exposed to a massive jolt of the solar radiation. The scientist somehow knew how it would affect the soldier but to their surprise, he became something else.

Dark Claw

Dark Claw, as stated earlier, is the amalgam of the Dark Knight and Wolverine. Logan was only five when he saw his parents getting killed by a masked robber. He was then sent to his uncle in Canada who was a police officer and he had to stay there until he was eighteen. After leaving from there, he joins the Royal Canadian Air Force and met  Creed H Quinn there. Soon after their joining, they were placed under the Weapon X program and it was here when Logan learned about his mutant powers same as Wolverine. He became world’s greatest detective after realizing his abilities and became a guy who puts fear in the hearts of the criminals. Having a huge arsenal of gadgets, he used to fight against the deadliest criminals. He later became the founding member of the Justice League of Avengers.

Dr. Strangefate

Doctor Strangefate is the culmination of Doctor Strange and Professor X from the Marvel universe and Doctor Fate from the DC universe. He is the most powerful being in the whole Amalgam Universe who can do anything to prevent its destruction.

Amazon

Amazon is the lightning superhero of the Amalgam comics. She was a combination of Storm from Marvel comics and Wonder Woman from DC comics. Princess  Ororo of Themyscira is a metamutant having the ability to manipulate weather. Her sisters taught her to forge the lasso of lightning that helps her to make other people speak the truth.

Spider-Boy

Spider-Boy came into existence when Project Cadmus attempted to clone a super-soldier who had the ability to control the gravity. They used the DNA of Peter Parker, who was one of the researchers there, but the project got sabotaged and Peter was killed but his clone survived. Spider-Boy has the ability to control gravity, can walk up the walls, and can lower the gravity of any object he touches. He also carries a futuristic web-shooting pistol which he uses to trap his enemies and swing from the buildings.

Green Skull

Green Skull is the amalgamation of two of the greatest comic book villains of Marvel and DC. He the combination of Red skull and Lex Luthor. The Green K serum turned his skin green and prolonged his life to the point of immortality. Alexender Luthor became a recluse and refused to come out in open and started the terrorist organization HYDRA.

Apollo

Apollo is the amalgam of Scott Sumers from Marvel and Raymond Terrill from DC. Ray Summers was kept away from the outside world by his parents until he was a teen. Telling him that the exposure to the sunlight would kill him but in reality, it made him stronger. Later he joined the team JLX and fell in love with Firebird (the amalgam of Phoenix and Fire).

Doctor Doomsday

Doctor Doomsday is one of the deadliest supervillains of the Amalgam Comics. He was the amalgam of Dr. Doom (Marvel) and Doomsday (DC) who fought against the Challengers of the Fantastic, Judgment League Avengers, Magnetic Men,  and the X-Patrol, and has the most appearances (supervillain) in the Amalgam comics.

Thanoseid

Thanoseid is the combination of two of the deadliest supervillains from Marvel and DC. He is the amalgam of Thanos (Marvel) and Darkseid (DC) who has the combined strength, stamina, powers, abilities and skills of both the villains combined. He is the ruler of Apokolips who sought the help of Dr. Doomsday to obliterate the whole universe except his realm.

Mr. X

Mr. X is the combination of Professor X (Marvel) and Martian Manhunter (DC). He is the real brain behind the formation of JLX. He is secretly the Skrullian Manhunter, who is the last surviving member of the Skrull race from Mars. Mr. X funded the project Cadmus in a hope to find the lost city of Homo Superiors (Mutants) known as Atlantis.

Thorion

Thorion is the amalgam of the Norse God of Thunder, Thor (Marvel) and DC’s Orion. He was the son of Thanoseid who he traded to All-Father Odin in order to stop the fight between the Realms of Apokolips and the New Asgard. Thorion is the wielder of the Astro-Force and has been protecting the New Asgard from thousands of years. He has combined powers of both Thor and Orion and was later remade into a cosmic being known as The Celestial.

Colonel Bruce Wayne

Colonel Bruce Wayne is the amalgamation of Nick Fury from Marvel and DC’s Bruce Wayne who trained himself to the peak human condition. After joining the SHIELD he trained even harder to become a master strategist, martial-artist and an exceptional fighter. He also got the access to hi-tech weapons and gadgetry from Stark Labs.

Mariner

Mariner is the amalgamation of Marvel’s Namor the Sub-Mariner and DC’s Aquaman. He is the former king of the Atlantis and one of the first metamutants. He wields a chained anchor which is strong enough to destroy a sentinel in a single strike and has same abilities as that of Namor and Aquaman.

Captain Marvel

William Mar-Vell is the combination of Marvel and DC’s Captain Marvel. He is just a boy who transforms into super-scientifically advanced hero known as Captain Marvel when he shouts the word “KREE.” He got the powers of both the Captain Marvels.

Iron Lantern

Iron Lantern is the combination of Marvel’s Iron Man and DC’s Green Lantern who is the founder of Stark Aircraft. He was working on a flight simulator when suddenly the device took off with him and he crashed near an alien spacecraft. Stark was badly injured because of the crash and a piece of metal from the suit gets stuck in his chest. Curious to see the aircraft, Stark makes his way to the spaceship where he found a dying alien Rhomann Sur.

Soon he realized that he is dying as well and so made a suit out of the alien tech which got powered by the battery he found in the wreckage. This suit not only saved his life but also gave him incredible powers. Now he can create anything he wants by using the green energy which is powered by Oa, the Living Planet. Hal Stark under the name of Iron Lantern became a superhero and fought many villains like Madame Sapphire and others.
