Scarlet Witch’s New Power Makes Her Even More Dangerous Than Before
Scarlet Witch’s new power is making fans freak out. As one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe, Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, has done some crazy things with her magic in the past. She’s been able to wipe out mutant powers and create life with her magic, defeated Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, and even traveled through the multiverse in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But in Scarlet Witch #4 by Steve Orlando and Sara Pichelli, she showed off a new power that could be the most dangerous one yet.

In the comic, Scarlet Witch is fighting Scythia to save her friend Darcy Lewis. During the fight, Scythia destroys a building with people inside. But Wanda rescues everyone with her powers and then turns the building and their belongings into leaves to avoid further damage. The people are grateful, but they’re also worried about what they’re going to do next since they’ve now lost everything. That’s when Wanda decides to enchant them with the ability to win the very next lottery ticket they buy to help them get back on their feet.
Although it might initially appear positive, this new skill is actually very risky. Wanda has the ability to casually hand out enormous sums of money to people, which could completely wreck the economy. The results of her using this power more extensively could be disastrous. If prices in the area increase as a result of the money going to these people right now, others may struggle as a result of Wanda’s generosity. And now that she possesses Chthon’s power, she might be able to use it to destroy the Avengers or even the entire American economy.
The fact that Wanda has a history of moral ambiguity makes things even scarier. She’s always been one to toe the line between right and wrong, and now that she carries Chthon’s power within her, she may be susceptible to corruption. She could use this power to support their adversaries or simply wreak havoc on the world if she were to choose the dark side once more. It might appear to her allies that she is simply helping people, but in truth, she might be gradually destroying the world.
Of course, Wanda meant well when she gave the populace a chance to win the lottery. She desired to lend a hand to those who were helpless. But as we’ve previously seen, she frequently causes unintended consequences with her good deeds. Even after she stripped mutants of their abilities, the Collective, a superpowerful being, was born as a result. Even though she might have the best of intentions, there is always a chance that what she does could turn out to be much worse.
If you’re a fan of the character, you should definitely check out Scarlet Witch 4 which is currently available from Marvel Comics.
