Nathan Fillion Appears For The First Time In The MCU

Nathan Fillion, known for his appearances in Firefly, Castle, and Saving Private Ryan, has been added to the star-studded cast of James Gunn’s upcoming MCU threequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Although Fillion has lent his voice to DC hero Green Lantern in animated movies such as Justice League: Doom and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, this will mark his first live-action appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A newly released promo for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 provides a brief first glimpse of Fillion’s character, who appears to be in prison at around the:40 mark. It’s unclear whether he’s playing a prisoner or one of the guards. Interestingly, James Gunn revealed that Fillion was originally intended to appear as Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but the scene was ultimately cut from the final version of the film.

Fillion had expressed hope of becoming the MCU’s Wonder Man in a 2017 interview with The Ara Show on KISS FM in Vancouver, citing his “wonderful experience” playing the character. Currently, Simon Williams will be portrayed in a future Disney series by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is well-known for his roles in Aquaman and Candyman. Although Fillion played a minor part in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, there is still a possibility that he might play a noteworthy role in the movie.

He is seen in the teaser trailer watching a pivotal clash between the forces of the Guardians and the High Evolutionary. Whether he is an ally or an enemy is unknown, but he appears to have been stunned by an MCU hero. Although Fillion’s willingness to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe is encouraging, it’s unfortunate that he was only given a supporting role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, the MCU has a history of casting actors in multiple roles, such as Michelle Yeoh (Ogord and Ying Nan) and Gemma Chan (Sersi and Minn-Erva).

If everything goes as planned, Fillion might be added to that list and take on a bigger role in a subsequent Marvel film. GOTG 3 On Friday, May 5, movie 3 will make its theatrical debut. It is a thrilling addition to the MCU series. When the movie finally arrives in theaters, fans will have even more to look forward to thanks to Fillion’s addition to the cast’s already stellar lineup.
