Jonathan Majors’ Kang Almost Had Insane Superpower In Ant-Man 3

Marvel fans were thrilled to see Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror in the latest Ant-Man installment, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Despite the movie not receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews, Kang was a standout villain and showed off his impressive powers, including telekinesis, energy blasts, and forcefields. However, the newly released concept art shows that there was an additional superpower that Kang possessed, but it didn’t make the final cut.

The concept art, shared by Aleksi Briclot, who worked on the film, depicts Kang summoning spectral duplicates of himself and blasting in different directions. The images show Kang directing his ghostly copies and firing energy blasts at unsuspecting denizens of the Quantum Realm. Although this ability didn’t make it into the finished version of the movie, it’s interesting to see what could have been. Despite Kang’s impressive powers and being a great villain in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, there are concerns about the future of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Jonathan Majors, the actor who portrayed Kang, has found himself embroiled in controversy, facing charges of assault. Marvel Studios may be in a tough spot as they had planned to build the next two phases of the MCU around Kang’s character. If Majors’ situation continues, Marvel may have to recast the role, but there is also a possibility that the character’s story could be adapted to another actor’s talents. Kang’s ghost-summoning ability wasn’t the only thing left on the cutting room floor.

The studio actually excised quite a bit of his backstory from Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, with writer Jeff Loveness indicating that some of that would be saved for an Avengers movie. Fans can only speculate what parts of Kang’s backstory will be explored in future movies. Despite these concerns, Kang’s portrayal in the movie was impressive, and it’s clear that Marvel Studios has big plans for the character. Kang has been a major player in the comics, and it seems likely that he will be a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is currently still playing in theaters and is set to hit digital on Tuesday, April 18. Fans will have to wait to see if and when the movie will be released on Disney+. In the meantime, Marvel fans can look forward to the upcoming release of several new movies and TV shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
