Hulk Characters in Captain America 4: Cast And Roles Explained

Captain America 4, titled New World Order, will explore the story, characters, and actors introduced in The Incredible Hulk as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) moves forward. Sam Wilson’s first solo movie as the Star-Spangled Avenger will take a different direction with its plotline, continuing Captain America’s story in a post-Steve Rogers era. The film will delve into characters and plot points from The Incredible Hulk, which was only the MCU’s second movie. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law began to explore this history more deeply, but Captain America 4 will take it to a new level. Here is the list of Hulk characters in Captain America 4:

Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross

Harrison Ford is set to take on the role of General Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America 4, replacing William Hurt who played the character in previous MCU films. This marks Ford’s first appearance in the MCU, and Ross’s sixth since his debut in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Ross’s role in the story is set to change as he moves from his previous post as Secretary of State to become the President of the United States. Ford has been tight-lipped about his role in the film, but it’s expected that he will play a crucial part in advancing Captain America’s storyline.

Additionally, Ross’s involvement in the Raft, where Sam was imprisoned in Captain America: Civil War, is expected to be a key plot point tying the sequel to earlier events in the MCU. With Ross’s impact on the MCU’s Phase 3 and 4 and rumors of his evolution into the Red Hulk, his presence will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Cap’s next adventure.

Betty Ross

Liv Tyler is making a comeback in the MCU after 15 years to reprise her role as Elizabeth “Betty” Ross. She first appeared as a love interest for Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk and has since made only one appearance in the animated series What If…? on Disney+. Her return to the MCU in Captain America 4 has been highly anticipated by fans, and Tyler was spotted in March 2023 during the filming of the movie, attending a funeral in a black formal outfit. However, there is no information regarding who the funeral is for.

Tyler’s return also offers an opportunity for Betty to reunite with her father, General Ross, and rekindle their strained relationship. It remains to be seen how their reunion will play out after being separated for so long. Nonetheless, her appearance in the movie has sparked excitement among MCU fans who have been eagerly waiting for her return to the franchise.

Samuel Sterns/The Leader

Tim Blake Nelson is set to make a return to the MCU as Dr. Samuel Sterns, who will evolve into his comic-accurate alter-ego, the Leader, in Captain America 4. Despite the unresolved plot threads surrounding the character due to Nelson’s 15-year absence, Sterns is finally about to rise to power as a villain in his first movie. Rumors suggest that the Serpent Society could also be involved in Captain America 4, with Valentina Allegra di Fontaine searching for what could be the MCU’s take on Adamantium. It remains a mystery how the Leader fits into this plot point and what his motivations could be, but Captain America will certainly face him as he tries to claim power over the world.

Captain America 4 is shaping up to be the most exciting chapter in the MCU since The Incredible Hulk debuted back in 2008. The movie will pick up where Steve Rogers left off, with Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America in a post-Steve Rogers world. The return of these characters has sparked rumors of other heroes from the Hulk’s legacy making their way into the movie. Speculation suggests that Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, could make an appearance, particularly as rumors suggested that the Leader was almost included in her solo series.

If she does appear, it would be an exciting opportunity to see her interact with Avengers outside of her family. Fans are also hoping for a closer relationship between Sam Wilson and Bruce Banner, as the two characters have not interacted much on screen since the Infinity Saga. Given Steve Rogers’ past connections with Banner, there’s potential for closer ties between the new Cap and the original Avenger.

Whatever the outcome, Captain America 4 promises to be a thrilling continuation of the Hulk’s story, finally giving it the chance to shine after legal issues kept him limited to team-up movies. The movie is set to debut in theaters on May 3, 2024, with filming currently underway, giving fans plenty to speculate about until its release.
