Captain Marvel 2 Teaser Released for First Trailer

Marvel fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of The Marvels, the sequel to the hit 2019 film Captain Marvel. And Marvel Studios has just stoked those flames of excitement with a Captain Marvel 2 teaser, as well as a confirmation of when fans can expect to see it. While we still don’t know much about the plot of The Marvels, Ms. Marvel’s post-credits scene gave fans a taste of what to expect when it featured a classic switcheroo between Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan.

Despite the delay of the film’s release from its original July 28 date to November, rumors have been circulating for months that a trailer could be arriving soon. And now Marvel Studios has made it official: the first trailer for The Marvels will arrive on Tuesday, April 11. To tease the upcoming trailer, Marvel Studios released a 17-second clip featuring snippets of audio from the trailer, including Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau asking “Hello?” and “What the?” and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury wondering where Captain Rambeau is.

The teaser also confirmed that the trailer will premiere on ABC’s Good Morning America on April 11, with an online release expected sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. ET. Last year’s D23 Fan Expo gave fans a first-ever look at The Marvels, showcasing a preview of its light-hearted tone and the dynamic between the main trio of Captain Marvel, Monica Rambaeu, and Ms. Marvel. While it’s possible that some, or even most, of that footage will debut in tomorrow’s teaser trailer, fans are also hoping to get a better idea of just how “anime-inspired” the sequel really is, as well as a glimpse at new characters like South Korean actor Park Soo-Jeon’s Captain Marvel 2 character and Zawe Ashton’s mysterious hammer-wielding villain.

The timing of the trailer’s release would put it 213 days before the sequel’s theatrical debut on November 10, which is slightly above average for films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in terms of when their first trailer drops. Only Iron Man, The Avengers, and Black Panther had shorter gaps between their first trailers and their theatrical releases. This extended marketing campaign could indicate that Marvel Studios is confident in the sequel and willing to invest more in its promotion.

In any case, fans are thrilled to see more of The Marvels and eager to learn more about how it fits into the larger story of the Multiverse Saga. With the first trailer just around the corner, the hype train is about to kick into high gear.
