Official Delay Of Marvel’s What If Season 2 Release Date

Marvel’s What If…? made its debut in August 2021 and became an instant hit among fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The animated series explored alternate realities within the MCU and featured many familiar characters in new and exciting ways. Fans eagerly awaited the announcement of a second season, which Marvel Studios confirmed would debut in early 2023. However, as the months passed, there was no sign of the show’s return. Recently, a rumor surfaced that the What If Season 2 release date had been pushed back to 2024.

Although Marvel and Disney did not comment on these claims, a recent update to the show’s listing on Disney+ seemed to confirm that the series was indefinitely delayed. The “Early 2023” release date was removed, and the page now simply says “Coming Soon.” The delay is likely due to a combination of factors, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and Marvel Studios’ busy production schedule. The studio has a packed slate of movies and TV shows in the works. It’s possible that What If…? Season 2 simply got pushed back in the queue.

Despite the delay, fans still have plenty to look forward to when the show does eventually return. Marvel recently teased an upcoming episode that will introduce a new hero to the MCU, Kahhori. The episode explores the idea of what would happen if the Tesseract fell to Earth and landed in the sovereign Haudenosaunee Confederacy before the colonization of America. It’s a unique premise that showcases Marvel Studios’ commitment to exploring new corners of the MCU. Other episodes of What If…? Season 2 will feature a Winter Soldier-inspired Captain Carter story, characters from Black Widow, an adaptation of the fan-favorite comic series 1602, and more.

With such a diverse range of stories, there’s sure to be something for everyone in the new season. Of course, the big question on fans’ minds is when they can expect to see the show return. Insider KC Walsh recently claimed that the series won’t debut until the first quarter of 2024. While this is a significant delay, it’s important to remember that indefinitely delayed doesn’t mean canceled. Marvel is still committed to the show and will release new episodes when they’re ready.

The studio has also announced several new shows, including an Echo and Ironheart series. With so much content on the horizon, fans will have plenty to keep them entertained in the coming years. It’s worth noting that the delay of What If…? Season 2 doesn’t necessarily mean that the show’s quality will suffer. In fact, the extra time could allow the writers and animators to refine their ideas and create even more exciting stories.  Marvel is known for its meticulous attention to detail, and the delay could allow the studio to ensure that the new season lives up to fans’ high expectations.

In the meantime, fans can revisit the first season of What If…? on Disney+. The series features a star-studded voice cast, including Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher, and explores some truly unique scenarios within the MCU. From a universe where Peggy Carter becomes Captain America to a reality where T’Challa becomes Star-Lord, the first season of What If…? is a thrilling ride from start to finish.

In conclusion, while What If…? Season 2 may be delayed, fans can take comfort in the fact that new episodes will eventually arrive.
