Deadpool Becomes A Dad To An Unappealing Symbiote Dog

Marvel’s newest Deadpool series sees our favorite antihero turned into an experiment by Harrower/Harriet Bromes, who creates a hybrid Carnage to serve her. So, Deadpool has gone and done it again – this time Deadpool becomes a dad to symbiote dog. By giving Deadpool/Wade Wilson a small amount of symbiote, this is accomplished. This symbiote fully matures into Cletus Kasady, Carnage’s main host, by the end of Deadpool #4.

Spoilers Ahead For Deadpool #4

A Carnage symbiote that assumes the appearance of a large dog quickly devours this Cletus, so he doesn’t last for long. This symbiote dog then turns to Deadpool and greets him with “Hello, Papa.”.  Now, Carnage was created in 1991 by David Michelinie and Mark Bagley in Amazing Spider-Man 345, while Deadpool was created in 1990 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza in New Mutants 98. Since then, the conflict between the two characters has persisted. In the 2014 television miniseries Deadpool vs. Carnage and the upcoming miniseries Absolute Carnage vs. Deadpool. “I just really hate that guy,” Cletus Kasady said in the latter story, expressing his real beef with Deadpool.

On the other hand, Deadpool’s interaction with his symbiote child is somewhat more cordial. Wade’s symbiote was eating his liver and internal organs as it grew, but it also served as a defense mechanism. Deadpool’s new love interest, Valentine Vuong, used sedatives to keep the symbiote submissive and gave him two extra limbs to use in battle. Wade was even given encouragement to kiss Valentine by Baby Carnage, who served as his wingman. How adorable, but of course, Harrower and Doctor Octopus ruined their moment, and the symbiote exclaimed, “NNNNOO!” in regret.

While all of this is going on in Deadpool’s world, the Summer of Symbiotes, a larger symbiote conflict, is developing in the Marvel Universe. The saga is expected to span several titles beginning in May 2023, including Venom, Carnage, Extreme Venomverse, Red Goblin, Cult of Carnage: Misery, Edge of Venomverse (a Marvel Unlimited Infinity comic), and Death of the Venomverse. This epic story will also include a cameo from the Carnage Reigns crossover starring Carnage, Red Goblin, and Miles Morales: Spider-Man.

Alyssa Wong wrote the script for Deadpool #5, which Martn Cóccolo illustrated. Neeraj Menon added the coloring, and Joe Sabino handled the lettering. Cóccolo and Menon contributed the main cover art, and Todd Nauck and Rachelle Rosenberg contributed the alternate cover art. On March 29, Marvel Comics will start selling the issue.
