Details Of Loki Season 2 Story Unveiled By Marvel Studios

Marvel Studios has officially revealed Loki Season 2 story, thanks to a post-credits scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The scene sets up the appearance of Kang the Conqueror’s variants, who will play a large role in the next season of the popular Disney+ series. In Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) underwent a major shift to the multiverse, which was clear when Loki stole the Tesseract, setting up the character’s Disney+ spinoff show.

At the same time, the Avengers’ time travel was theorized to help set up Kang the Conqueror’s introduction later on. The two storylines connected in Loki Season 1 when He Who Remains entered the picture to give everyone a glimpse of the MCU’s next main villain. Ant-Man 3 continues Kang’s ascent, and multiple appearances of the MCU villain are expected leading up to Avengers: Secret Wars, which will conclude Phase 6 and the Multiverse Saga. Kang’s presence has long been expected to include a return appearance in Loki Season 2, but Marvel Studios refrained from confirming these theories. However, the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania changes this by directly setting up the massive role that Kang’s variants will play in the next season of Loki.

The reason why Kang has been expected to be part of Loki Season 2 is because of how the first season ended. The finale revolved around Loki and Sylvie finally arriving at the Citadel at the end of time, the base of operation for He Who Remains as he oversees the protection of the Sacred Timeline. This was where audiences first learned about the first Multiversal War between the different Kang variants. More importantly, it is also where He Who Remains died after Sylvie decided to reject his offer to control the timeline. The end result was the Sacred Timeline branching and a warning that more Kang variants would come.

The very end of Loki Season 1 follows the main god of mischief as he finds himself in a brand-new universe, one where Mobius does not recognize him. The more pressing issue when it came to setting up Season 2’s story was the reveal that this new version of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) is openly run by a version of Kang. After previously operating under the guise of the Time-Keepers, the events of the finale have brought Kang’s involvement with the TVA to the forefront. Understandably, this left Loki shaken as he was now without Sylvie, lost his friendship with Mobius and believes that Kang is someone worth fearing.

The specific plot of Loki Season 2 is now more clear after the Ant-Man trilogy’s end credits scene. It showed Loki and Mobius reunited in a crowd full of people watching a presentation by a man named Victor Timely. Loki and Mobius seem to be aware of something no one else is: Victor Timely is a Kang variant. They note that he is a terrifying presence as his speech begins. While only a few lines are audible, this Kang variant also appears to be the most interested in controlling time. Seeing Loki and Mobius back together is no surprise, as previous Loki Season 2 footage confirmed the friendship would live on.

The more important Loki Season 2 story setup in Ant-Man 3 is the idea that Loki and Mobius are searching the multiverse for Kang variants. The short scene does not provide the context or motive for this mission, so it is unclear if they are doing this on their own behalf or on orders from the new TVA overlord Kang variant. In either case, Marvel certainly is setting up the idea that the Loki Season 2 story revolves around both Mobius and Loki going after the variants of Kang.  Victor Timely, a Kang variant who appears in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and is teased for Loki season 2, was created by the main Kang after he was defeated by the Avengers and needed time to regroup.

He founded the town of Timely in 1900s Wisconsin and became its mayor, and his goals were smaller in scale than other variants. While he should be important to the Loki season 2 story, he may also have a larger role to play in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga as he was not seen with the Council of Kangs and may not be aligned with the variants who want to rule the multiverse. Victor Timely could be the guise of the MCU’s Prime Kang and possibly a hero who could help the Avengers.

The presence of Victor Timely in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga setup could indicate a potential hero who could help the Avengers in their fight against the variants. As he was not aligned with the Council of Kangs, he could have a larger role to play beyond just Loki season 2. It remains to be seen how the Prime Kang and Victor Timely’s roles will play out, but their potential impact on the MCU’s overarching story is significant.
