The Deleted Fantastic Four Post Credits Scene of Doctor Strange 2 Revealed
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave us plenty of cameos. But the biggest of them all was John Krasinski as Reed Richards. Sadly, his first appearance did not turn out to be great for him. But originally, this is not how things were supposed to happen with the leader of the Fantastic Four. Apparently, the writer of Doctor Strange 2 wanted to introduce the Fantastic Four of MCU’s Earth-616 in the film. Here’s what we’ve learned about the deleted Fantastic Four post credits scene of Doctor Strange 2.
Writer Michael Waldron recently spoke with Empire, and he stated that he “always wanted Reed Richards” in Doctor Strange 2. But before the Illuminati scene was allowed to happen, he wrote a very different scene to introduce Reed Richards and tease the Fantastic Four at the end of Multiverse of Madness. And apparently, this scene would have taken place on Earth-616.
Waldron said:
“In my very first draft, I wrote a tag just for the hell of it, of the events of the movie being recorded and reviewed by somebody in the Baxter Building, and a stretchy hand coming into frame to run it back. Reed is probably my favorite Marvel comics characters so I was always gunning to get him in here somewhere.”
Well, the casting of the Fantastic Four was not done by then. Nothing was finalized. It is only now that someone like Penn Badgley is reported to be the frontrunner for Reed Richards. So obviously, Waldron wasn’t allowed to include that scene. Instead, he got the next best thing as the fan-casting of John Krasinski as Reed Richards was turned into a reality.
Instead of Doctor Strange 2, we might see a cameo from the Fantastic Four in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. So let’s see how that film will set up the Fantastic Four movie.
