Shazam is one of the most powerful heroes DC has to offer. His powers and abilities are almost at par with Superman. But as most of us know, all his Godly abilities are derived from magic. Still, being assertive does not mean one would be worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer. Hulk is insanely strong, but obviously, he isn’t worthy. And the same could be said for Superman, whose heart can be corrupted. But what about Shazam, or perhaps Billy Batson? Can Shazam Lift Thor’s Hammer?
Well, I believe that he might be able to do so. Billy won’t even need the powers of Shazam to do that. He could prove to be worthy on his own. The Wizard Shazam chose him to be worthy of the powers of six Gods. When the young man speaks the magic phrase SHAZAM, he gains the Wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury.
So if Batson is worthy of so many abilities of the Gods, then he could also be worthy of Thor’s powers. I mean, just think about it. It would make sense that the qualities that make Batson worthy of Shazam’s power should also make him worthy of Thor’s hammer. But we’ve never seen an example of Shazam trying to lift Thor’s hammer in any Marvel DC crossover comics.
So, maybe your opinion could differ from mine. But even if he can gain Thor’s powers, I believe that he still won’t be able to defeat the true God of Thunder. Shazam could use his speed to gain an advantage on Thor. But Thor just has years and years of battle experience. He can manipulate the weather as well. And his weapons could provide him with great offense and defense. Even in the 1996 Marvel vs. DC crossover event, Thor’s battle experience and quick thinking proved vital against Shazam’s speed advantage. He won that fight.
