Phase 4 is moving forward in various directions. One big pathway is leading us to a Secret Wars event. But there are several other smaller pathways as well. One of them is clearly assembling the Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers. There’s one moving towards a Skrull-Kree war. An MI-13 team is being amassed in London. But another clear team that is in the making is the Young Avengers. And, here’s why the Young Avengers will assemble in Ironheart.
So far, here’s what the Young Avengers squad could look like in the MCU:
Eli Bradley
Kate Bishop
America Chavez
Ms. Marvel
Kid Loki
Cassie Lang
Riri Williams
Wanda’s kids Billy and Tommy were also suspected to be in the squad. But WandaVision removed them from the equation and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness further put a nail in their coffin. So, the leftover members have been mentioned above. And a young Nathaniel Richards could also come in to play Iron Lad. That would connect the Young Avengers to Secret Wars and Kang as well. But before that, we could see the first assembly of these heroes in Ironheart.
Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams is making her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. But after that, she is supposed to get her own series, which hasn’t even begun production till now. So, it is likely that the show will release on Disney+ in late 2023 if it begins filming in the next few months. And by then, all the other Young Avengers members would have appeared at least once or twice.
In fact, someone like Hawkeye could even start assembling a team around Kate Bishop behind the scenes. He would add Cassie Lang from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Xochitl Gomez was recently seen at the Ms. Marvel premiere. So, it is possible that America Chavez could unite with Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel. So, these ladies could unite and make a cameo in Ironheart’s final episode, leading us into a Young Avengers show. A cameo, or perhaps a bigger role from other heroes would also increase the excitement for the project.
And by the time Young Avengers arrives (maybe in late 2024), Eli Bradley would have got his powers, and Kid Loki would have probably made it onto Earth-616 after Loki season 2. Who knows, maybe even a Nathaniel Richards might show up, and Billy and Tommy could arrive from another Earth as grown-up teenagers. Also, Hulkling could arrive in Secret Invasion to bolster the squad even further.
