How Marvel Spoiled Episode 3 Of Ms. Marvel?

The third entry of Disney+’s Ms Marvel came out last week and took the fans by surprise. The episode revealed some pretty huge details about Kamala Khan, specifically the origin of her powers. But as it turns out, the show creators had already hinted at this turn of the events in the first episode. This is something that Marvel has been doing quite frequently in their Disney+ shows. Namely how they hinted at the Gates of Osiris, which we saw later in Disney+’s Moon Knight, in the aquarium in the first episode. And now we find how Marvel spoiled episode 3 of Ms Marvel because of a big reveal in the first episode.

Disney+ recently released the third episode of Ms Marvel, titled, Destined. It cleared the fog from the plot by revealing how Kamala activated her powers by simply wearing a bangle. This episode came right after the last one ended with a big reveal on Kamran’s Mother, Najma(Nimra Bucha), who played a major role in this one. The episode saw her explaining to Kamala the real origin of herself and Kamala’s great-grandmother, Aisha. Who, as it turns out, was a former member of Najma’s group of interdimensional beings, called the ClanDestines, or the Djinns.

Episode 3 of Ms Marvel

Najma revealed that they belong to another dimension, called the Noor, and were exiled long ago. They were trying to find their way back when they found the bangle. It was actually Aisha who found the bangle and passed it on to Kamala. Additionally, Kamala being the great-granddaughter of Aisha, inherited those extraterrestrial genes that later gave her superpowers. This makes her part-Djinn herself whose powers manifest due to an external factor. For Kamala, it was the bangle that activated her powers. That bangle unlocked a part of herself that could draw powers from the Noor Dimension. But long before we know anything about that, the show actually teased the presence of an alternate dimension.

HOW DID MARVEL TEASE MS MARVEL BIG REVEAL?

Adding to a long list of twist-foreshadowing easter eggs, this hint came in the first episode, immediately following the moment Kamala put the bangle for the first time. At this moment, she was on the stage for her cosplay competition, and when she put on the bangle, she was hurled into another dimension. The viewers had no idea what that was until they found out in the third episode that it was another dimension. This scene featured some great work by the camera crew as it gave an effect that Kamala fell into this dimension and got up just as fast.

During the short time she was there, we saw a huge space, filled with shady silhouettes, with glowy eyes. This foreshadows the glow in Kamala’s eyes whenever she uses her abilities. Other than that, this Dimension is, most probably, the Noor that later turns out to be the origin of her great-grandmother. And those silhouettes were the Djinns that are the residents of the dimension. The characteristic property of the dimension, the blue, and purple lights, better explains the name of the dimension. In Urdu, Noor means Light, hence the bright lights.

This is also a great callback to the Duat and the Ancestral Plane, which are other alternate dimensions, loosely following the same color theme. Actually, it was this color scheme shared by the dimensions that hinted at the dimension Kamala went to being an alternate one. This also hints at what Najma later asks of Kamala: to open a portal between dimensions. And this doesn’t seem like it could end well, given how the Djinn is considered evil in the Pre-Islamic folklore. On top of that, the only Djinns we know has turned out to be villains of the show. And the others we saw for a moment were dark figures, hinting at their nature, maybe?

Given how we are only halfway to the finale with episode 3 of Ms Marvel. All we know so far are Djinns are bad, and Kamala needs to figure out what to do next. How are you liking the series so far? do let us know your views in the comments section below.
