Scarlet Witch Actor Elizabeth Olsen Lashes Out Against MCU Criticism
Freshly off from all the praise from her performance in Doctor Strange 2, Elizabeth Olsen has called out MCU critics. Every successful franchise has its fair share of haters, and MCU is no exception. And according to Scarlet Witch actor Elizabeth Olsen, MCU’s criticism bugs her and makes her feisty. Being a member of the franchise for almost 8 years, she thinks that everyone who considers an MCU movie a lesser form of art can not be wronger! Check out what more she had to say!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may not have done very well with the critics, but it was guilty of being an MCU masterpiece in the court of public opinion. The movie was an amazing sequel to the journey of Doctor Strange who just got off from saving the multiverse in NWH. In this next adventure, he was put against another threat to the multiverse. And this time, it was none other than his old foe, now corrupted by the Darkhold, the Scarlet Witch. And dare I say, it was one of the greatest moments ever. She didn’t hold back and gave her foes all of her might.
But what made the movie a hundred times better than Elizabeth Olsen’s greatest performance. She was so believable as the sinister witch that even we gave out hope for any of her foes. And now after the success of the movie, she has been a part of a myriad of interviews. And in one of them, she addressed the MCU critics and didn’t hold back there.
WHAT DOES ELIZABETH OLSEN HAVE TO SAY FOR MCU CRITICS?
When a franchise grows and expands as fast as MCU has, it collects its fair share of fans and haters! And MCU has a whole army of haters and the members of the MCU have never shied away from addressing their hate. And when I say haters, it not only includes mere internet trolls, many Hollywood directors and actors have also made hateful comments about the extensive universe that Marvel has made. This makes Elizabeth Olsen feisty! Listen to what she has to say to all the critics out there!
When people make Marvel movies seem like a lesser type of art, that’s when I get frustrated.
I’m not saying we’re making indie art films, but I just think it takes away from our crew, which bugs me. These are some of the most amazing set designers, costume designers, and camera operators – I feel diminishing them with that kind of criticism takes away from all the people who do award-winning films, and that also work on these projects.
From an actor’s point of view, whatever, I get it; I totally understand that there’s a different kind of performance that’s happening. But I do think throwing Marvel under the bus takes away from the hundreds of very talented crew people. That’s where I get a little feisty about that.
Elizabeth Olsen calls out MCU’s criticism in one of her interviews with The Independent, she explained that pointless criticism is just pointless! She continued by saying that calling out and hating an actor’s performance is somewhat okay! Because that leaves the ground for improvement but when a franchise is called out as ‘not a piece of art’, that’s frustrated not just the fans and actors, but the entire team of crew members who worked day and night to bring that movie to glory. And now that hating on Marvel is becoming a cultish thing, Scarlet Witch actor Elizabeth Olsen did well by addressing these so-called haters.
