How Episode 1 Sets Up The Cameo Of Hulk In Moon Knight

Moon Knight made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the first episode of his series dropping this week. The series saw some of the most exciting moments with the reveal of Marc Spector and an insight into the villain Arthur Harrow. There were a lot of theories that were going around the series and a lot of them are yet to be answered by the series. The series is set in the MCU but there are no direct references to the massive franchise yet. Some Easter eggs have pointed at the events of MCU even though it clearly tries to steer away from the references. It looks like the first episode might set up a cameo of Hulk in Moon Knight.

Moon Knight

From the very starting, it became quite clear that the series will focus on the character in a different part of the world. The Maximum of the MCU is set in New York and the heroes so far, live in the same country thus the narrative hardly shifted from here. But Moon Knight is actually set in London, England which is about 3,459 miles from the MCU’s usual city of New York. This made fans wonder about how it would manage to suggest links with the MCU and references to the events of the franchise. The creators of the series had actually suggested that the series would not be directly set in the MCU.

In a Disney press release, the executive producer of the series Grant Curtis revealed that the series won’t be attached to the MCU. He stated,

There are multiple aspects of Moon Knight that get us internally jazzed at Marvel Studios. But one of the unique aspects of this character is it’s taking Marvel Studios to its Iron Man and Tony Stark roots. That was a character that was obviously built from the ground up, and it is the same with Marc Spector.

We’re absolutely embracing the supernatural aspects of what was in publishing, the Egyptian gods, this ruthless Egyptian god Khonshu that manipulates Marc to do his bidding. We’re embracing all that. We love stuff that goes bump in the night.

There’s no attachment to the current MCU. He’s brand-new, and he is going on a brand-new adventure. We really think the fans are going to enjoy it.

He further talked about this in an interview with ScreenRant while speaking of the accessibility of the series. When talking about how the entire MCU could be too massive to follow and the series actually works that out, he mentioned,

Accessible indeed. I do think, if you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you will see those Easter eggs that we’ve peppered throughout this. And I think you’ll get a kick out of them.

But again, if this is your first dive into the MCU, I think this globetrotting action-adventure that we take Marc Spector and Steven Grant on, I think you’re going to enjoy it. We’ll find out March 30; I can’t wait.

Tease for Cameo of Hulk in Moon Knight

Even though Moon Knight might not have any direct links with the present MCU, there have been rumors of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner having a cameo in the series. This is actually somewhat teased in the very first episode of the series during the transition of the persona from Grant to Spector. From the very beginning of the series, we are shown that Grant tries to make sure that he never leaves his bed when he is asleep. This nightly routine includes putting blue tape on the doorway, spreading sand around the bed, and chaining his foot to the bedpost.

After all this effort, somehow the problem with his persona manages to slip in now and again. A particular case was when he thought he had a nightmare of a trip to Germany but later discovered that this might have actually happened. Grant gives in to his other persona at the very end of the episode when the jackal is headed for him in the British Museum. After giving away the control of his body to Marc Spector, Moon Knight emerges and helps him out. This transition and giving in is something that we have witnessed for another character in the MCU: Bruce Banner.

Avengers Endgame Hulk
Cameo of Hulk in Moon Knight

Most of the times we have gotten to see Banner talk about Hulk, it was in a third-person reference. Banner tries real hard to make sure that the Hulk doesn’t come out as that might prove to be disastrous for everyone around him. Later, Banner finds a means of controlling it by exiling himself and trying Yoga to control his mind. He even reveals that the secret to keeping this balance between him and the other guy was by being “always angry”.

This is another clear example of personality disorder even though Banner has managed to control his other personality quite well over the years. The result of this was Smart Hulk, who appeared in Avengers: Endgame as a combination that “put the brains and the brawn together.” Since Grant has not been able to achieve this control yet, he might end up taking help from Banner to be able to transition to Spector much more easily. The two actors were spotted together in Budapest when the series was being shot there and this detail might be further indicative of Banner’s cameo in the series.

The above theory suggests that we might get to watch a cameo Hulk in Moon Knight, what do you think can there be a cameo? let us know down below.
