How Civil War Might Have Set Up First Vampire In The MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had various moments over the years where a variety of details were spread quite finely throughout the projects. Fans have developed various theories over the years, each focusing on how the characters managed to end up being a priority in the franchise. There have been cases where some of these theories have actually made it into the movies considering the MCU has some of the best fan moments. With a lot of new characters set to make their debut, fans are wondering how the franchise might have set its arcs up from way before. According to a theory from Captain America: Civil War, the movie might have managed to establish the first vampire in the MCU.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

In the upcoming few years, we are going to witness a variety of new characters making their MCU debut. While some were announced quite recently, others were announced quite early and fans are wondering about how they will figure into the roster of MCU characters. It is not very long till Blade makes his on-screen debut in the MCU according to the announcement made by Marvel Studios. During the 2019 Comic-Con, it was announced that Mahershala Ali has been cast in the role of the character. Not only that, but the character has already made an appearance with a voice cameo in the post-credits scene for Eternals.

This has us naturally thinking that vampires will now become a part of the franchise too. The past few narratives in the MCU have been quite far from supernatural elements and it is about time that these elements made their way into the franchise. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had talked about how these elements would be explored more properly with the Doctor Strange arc when he stated,

We have, for years, wanted to find a new way into Blade. We love that character. We love that world. Now, with Doctor Strange and the supernatural elements coming into the MCU, it felt like we could definitely start exploring that…

First vampire in the MCU

Ever since we got our first cameo from the character, fans started to link every other possible place he can appear in. The first choice for most fans was Moon Knight because the titular character is heavily influenced by supernatural narratives. Even though the series has managed to stay away from the trope of referencing MCU narratives, it clearly has some strong references. This was seen with a particular dialogue that could be retconned and thus end up paving the way for the first god in the MCU. It seems that there might be a lot of essential details in the franchise that laid the bricks to the conclusions that we will be witnessing soon.

Captain America: Civil War References Vampire

A throwaway dialogue from Captain America: Civil War could actually be the very first time a vampire was referenced in the MCU. There are a lot of essential details throughout the movie as it also marks the debut of two of the most important characters. Both Spider-Man and Black Panther ended up making their debut with this movie and we also got a taste of the Wakandan culture in the movie. During a particular moment after the death of T’Chaka, Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa states,

In my culture, death is not the end. It’s more of a stepping off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into a green field where… you can run forever.

Sekhmet

In Black Panther, when the mantle of the titular character is given to T’Challa we see him travel to the Ancestral Plane. This leads to him witnessing the past Black Panther’s past and also receiving the blessings of Panther God Bast. The fact that Bast exits in the MCU means that Sekhmet must also be present in the franchise. This clearly means that Sekhmet is also a canon and it is an important detail since she is a bloodthirsty goddess of war who fed on the blood and fear of her enemies.

Thus, Sekhmet could be the very first vampire that the MCU has, and even though she is not a part of the Ennead in Moon Knight she might be present like those characters in the world. Comment down your thoughts.
