Did Gorr Kill The Missing Gods of Moon Knight??

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken over mass media in the last couple of years. Ever since Endgame, the fans have been wondering how the franchise will create the same tension and gripping storylines without Iron Man. It seems that they have figured out a way. Marvel Studios are now doing what they should have done years ago. They are focusing on developing a lot of characters instead of perpetuating just one. Take Moon Knight, for example, we started off with just Marc/ Steven, but by the third episode, we have already met the Gods of Egypt. Even though the Ennead seemed intimidating and mighty, we couldn’t help but notice that there were only 5 Gods present when the Ennead is usually made of 9 deities. So, where are the missing Gods of Moon Knight?

The classic Ennead in both the Marvel multiverse and Egyptian lore is usually composed of nine Gods. Ennead is headed by an Elder God, the Sun God Atum, but he is nowhere to be seen in the show. Similarly, the Gods that make it to the conference are quite different from those classically included in the Ennead. It is only Osiris and Tefnut who overlap with the classic Ennead. So, our question is what happened to the other Gods and why are these Gods so indifferent to the fate of man? We think that Marvel is subtly trying to tell us something by showing us only 5 members of the Ennead and not clarifying whether Khonshu and Ammit are a part of them or not. It is possible that Gorr might have something to do with this.

Missing Gods of Moon Knight

If I were to go by the classic assembly of the Ennead then a lot of Gods are missing. Starting with Atum himself, the pantheon of Moon Knight differs greatly from the Marvel comics’ version. I point this out, only because we have already seen Bast in the MCU and this Panther God is a member of the Ennead in the comics. So, what could be the reason for the reduced number of Gods in the MCU? Why are the Gods so afraid of stepping out of the Overvoid and interfering in the affairs of the man. Our writer-tingle points at one of the next big Marvel movies i.e. Thor: Love and Thunder.

The missing gods of Moon Knight

Thor 4 is set to introduce a character called Gorr The God Butcher, but it is still unclear how Gorr earned this name. He is said to be in the possession of the Necrosword, which is the black blade of Knull, the God of symbiotes. In the ancient past, Knull used this weapon to behead a celestial. Since then, the sword has come to be in the possession of Gorr who is only adding more blood to its legacy. He terrorized the Marvel comicverse not so long ago and now we expect him to do the same to the MCU.

What better way to do that than to introduce the God Butcher before the movie itself. Let me clarify, I think Gorr is behind the reduced number of The Egyptian Gods. The Overvoid is said to be a mystical realm in the cosmos where the ancient Gods live. They interact with our realm only through Avatars and it is generally not their goal to come to this plane of existence.

Gorr The God Butcher

It may not be possible for humans to reach this place but it is possible that Gorr may have gone on a rampage in the Overvoid before. Gorr is not a being with a sense of morality like you and me. His view of the Gods is extremely skewed (as is apparent from his moniker “The God Butcher”) but the real question is what did he do to earn such a title. It is possible that he killed the rest of The Egyptian Gods to earn it and this is why The Ennead does not want to interfere in the matters of man anymore.

They may want to focus their attention on more imminent threats like Gorr rather than trying to preserve a civilization that is destined for destruction through their own greed. If Marvel were to introduce Gorr like this then that would certainly amp up the tension for Thor 4.
