MCU Phase 4 Has Secretly Set Up the Captain Marvel from Dark Avengers

The MCU has some rather exciting plans for the future of the franchise. We are going to witness some very interesting developments with some arcs that were previously hinted at in the franchise. Over the years there have been various such arcs but it seems that one of the most exciting arcs is the new renditions of the Avengers we will get to see soon. Considering the plans for the villains in the upcoming projects are kept under wraps for most of the projects, fans aren’t exactly sure what they will get to see. But it seems that a recent reveal might have paved the way for a major development in the franchise. According to the subtitles in the Ms. Marvel trailer, the show might be working on Captain Marvel from Dark Avengers.

Ms. Marvel

This Disney+ project will be the debut for the character of Kamala Khan as she comes to terms with her powers. We will get to witness some interesting developments in the series regarding the character of Captain Marvel and how it influences one of her biggest fans. The latest trailer gave us a first look at the character of Ms. Marvel and her powers in the series. But similar to most of the other projects in the MCU, details regarding the primary antagonist in the series are kept under wraps. One of the biggest details from the trailer is the fact that Captain Marvel will have a major influence on Kamala. There are even rumors regarding her appearance in the show as a cameo considering Ms. Marvel will end up featuring next to Captain Marvel in The Marvels.

Dark Avengers Reveal In Ms. Marvel Trailer

The trailer for Ms. Marvel was filled with some really fun moments regarding the characters of Kamala Khan. But it seems that the trailer also had a reference for a character who might have an interesting role to play in the series. According to the subtitles for the trailer, we can see a name appear for a previously unknown character in the series. At the 1:26 mark in the trailer, we can see a name appear in the subtitles, “Najma” with actor Nimra Bucha playing the character. The line this character utters is, “do you know what you are?“, this indicates that she might have some idea about Kamala’s powers. This is an interesting detail that might be referencing something essential for the franchise.

What’s really interesting about this detail is the fact that it might have a reference to an important character. The Twitter handle Max Marvel revealed that “Najma” is the Arabic word for “Star”. This could be an indication of the Star codename for the character of Ripley Ryan which is a fairly new character. The character appeared opposite Carol as a rival and she actually ended up joining the Thunderbolts. With the Dark Avengers’ characters already being hinted at in the franchise, she might be an interesting addition. She was an anti-hero who pretended to be a superhero by using Captain Marvel’s stolen powers.

Dark Avengers

Captain Marvel from Dark Avengers

In the comics, the Dark Avengers was actually a group of imposters who comprised renditions of the Avengers. This group was formed by Norman Osborn following the disbanding of the Avengers in the wake of the Secret Invasion storyline. Some elements of this team have already appeared in Phase 4 with characters showing up in the projects of Phase 4. There are even theories that this team might appear as one of the most essential components of the next venture with the Avengers arc in the MCU. We already have certain renditions of the major Avengers characters.

We can be sure that Ms. Marvel will be facing a strong villain based on her powers only. Whether Star is going to be the primary antagonist is something that is yet to be explored in the series. This might give us some idea regarding the weight of the character of Ms. Marvel in the future of the franchise. She might end up being a part of the Thunderbolt-like team that Val is forming when she recruited U.S. Agent in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Ms. Marvel will premiere on the Disney+ platform on 8 June.
