What If Hank Pym Designed Ultron in Doctor Strange 2?

Fans were surprised to see just how crazy things could get in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: No Way Home. But the trailer for the Doctor Strange sequel might mean there are much crazier things yet to come. A lot of characters appeared in the trailer and fans are wondering how they will actually fit into the narrative of the series. At the same time, there are various theories about a lot of other characters who might end up appearing in the movie while others are set to debut in the MCU with this project. Amongst all of these, some past characters might be seen playing some completely different and new roles in the movie. A new theory from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness suggests Hank Pym designed Ultron in the Illuminati universe.

Multiverse of Madness

The wildest theories regarding Multiverse of Madness started coming out following the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. This made sense considering No Way Home indicated that past Marvel films could be made canon to the MCU using the Multiverse. While so far only Sony’s past Spider-Man projects have been made canon with the appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield‘s Spider-Man in No Way Home, we can see other projects from other studios also being made canon. It will be a lot more feasible now considering Disney has brought the other studios and thus acquired the rights for the other Marvel characters.

Based on the trailer, fans have felt that we might get to see Patrick Stewart appear in the movie as Charles Xavier. This fits the theory which sees Xavier as a part of the Illuminati that governs the Multiverse. A lot of other members have been theorized as the superior versions of the Avengers we have seen so far. That would make sense considering the Illuminati consists of some of the most essential Marvel heroes who come together to take some major decisions. While the members of this group appearing in the MCU has already been decided, we might see another character appear in the movie.

Hank Pym Designed Ultron?

There are a wide variety of characters who can appear as members of the Illuminati and with the Multiverse, it could be taken to any possibility. But if we are asked about an existing MCU character who can also be a member of this council we might have a candidate. Hank Pym perfectly fits such a role considering he would make for a fitting member of the Illuminati. The character is actually associated with the history of the MCU and Marvel Comics actually sees him being the founder member of the Avengers. Even though he was brought in as an older character in the MCU, he did manage to be a major character in the narrative.

We got to see Ultron Bots appear in the trailer for Multiverse of Madness and this could pave the way for some interesting narratives. The most interesting thing about this appearance is the fact that Hank Pym actually has a history with Ultron in the comics. According to the comics, Pym was primarily responsible for creating Ultron but this was instead put on the duo of Bruce Banner and Tony Stark in the MCU. But MCU could actually correct their mistakes in Avengers: Age of Ultron by bringing Pym and Ultron back as a part of the Illuminati in Doctor Strange 2. Based on what we have seen so far from the character, he is clearly a brilliant scientist and is rather superior compared to the other characters in MCU. Michael Douglas taking on the role would see the actor actually being provided with the material that fits his acting prowess.

Hank Pym Designed Ultron

There was a hint of Hank Pym going crazy in the episode of the Disney+ animated series What If…? when he managed to kill the Avengers. It would be interesting to see other familiar characters take on as members of the Illuminati too. Based on what we saw in the trailer, Baron Mordo might also appear as a member of the Illuminati himself. Captain Carter was majorly hinted in the poster for the movie and this could be a part of the narrative too.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released in theaters worldwide on May 6.
