Grogu Choosing Mando Offscreen Was A Big Star Wars Mistake

The latest in Disney’s Star Wars live-action shows finished last week with a massive finale. We witnessed a lot of interesting events unfold in the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett as Boba Fett seized the reigns. Even though the series didn’t live up to the expectations of the fans, it did pave the way for a lot more that will be explored in the future of the series. But the best thing has to be the fact that now we have some idea about what we might get to see in the upcoming season of The Mandalorian. But the finale didn’t give us a proper ending with one major event not being shown to us. Grogu Choosing Mando offscreen in The Book of Boba Fett might be a terrible mistake for the future of the franchise.

The Book of Boba Fett

Fans were actually excited to see the Mandalorian making an appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. There was much confusion regarding what will happen with the character following him parting ways with Grogu. But things took a very interesting turn where we found out that both of them ended up appearing in the spinoff series for Boba Fett. Following the events of The Mandalorian Season 2, Grogu was taken by Luke Skywalker for his Jedi training. Din Djarin appears in Chapter 5 and is motivated to meet Grogu again. In the following episode, he goes to the planet where Grogu was being taught the way of the force by Luke.

But things took a rather interesting turn here when the episode ended with a massive cliffhanger. Mando brings a vest made of beskar and he hands it over to Ahsoka as a gift for Grogu. He did not meet Grogu himself because Ahsoka made an interesting statement that was regarding Grogu’s choice of being a Jedi or a Foundling. The episode ends with Luke presenting Grogu with the same choice by placing both the vest and Yoda’s lightsaber in front of him. According to him, if Grogu chose the vest then he would stick with the Mandalorian but if he chooses the lightsaber he will end up being the first Padawan in Luke’s Jedi Academy.

Grogu’s Dilemma

The episode ends with Grogu heading for his choice and that ended up being the biggest cliffhanger. Fans instantly started wondering about the choice that he would make. Based on the sequel movies being canon some fans theorized that Grogu won’t be Luke’s first student because that is supposed to be Kylo Ren. But at the same time, it was rather interesting to imagine Grogu becoming a Jedi who could also be a Mandalorian like Tarre Vizsla. But the finale actually shows us the choice made by Grogu as he is seen reuniting with Din Djarin wearing the vest that was gifted to him. Even though this clears the future of the narrative of the Mandalorian, it actually ends up being a major mistake.

Grogu Choosing Mando Off Screen Is A Mistake

One of the key highlights around the end of The Mandalorian Season 2 focused on Grogu becoming a Jedi. Since Grogu played a significant role in The Mandalorian, his Jedi training became one of the key aspects of the narrative. This meant that the audience clearly deserved a chance to see Grogu make this choice as it was rather important. Instead, we got an underwhelming surprise with Grogu in the cockpit of the X-Wing being dropped off by R2D2. We are left wondering if Grogu might have hesitated in making his decision as that would be a significant role in determining his character.

Grogu Choosing Mando

The reunion between the Din Djarin and Grogu actually ruins the moment where we saw Grogu being taken by Luke Skywalker. Fans might remember that Luke going away was one of the most exciting moments and it left the series at a very high point. There was absolutely no idea about the events of The Mandalorian Season 3 but now we can be sure that the duo will have much to do. Grogu’s arrival does prove to be of much help in the end but it ruins the arc of the character itself and doesn’t fit with the series as a whole.

Let’s hope The Mandalorian Season 3 will give us some interesting narrative to explore when it arrives around this Christmas.
