The Book of Boba Fett Makes Way for the Return of Mando

The Book of Boba Fett is the latest of the Disney+ projects from the Star Wars universe. We got to see the very first of these projects with The Mandalorian. It ended up being the best thing that came out of the Star Wars franchise in a long time. Recently, there were a lot of movies from the franchise that saw a lot of new characters being introduced. But they failed to live up to the expectation of the original projects from the franchise. When it was announced that we will be getting a live-action series fans got really excited. But then we got to see one of the biggest projects that fans had asked for a long time come true. We finally got to see a spin-off series that explores the character of Boba Fett, the best bounty hunter in the universe. It seems that we will see the return of Mando aka Din Djarin in The Book of Boba Fett at some point in time, thanks to the following analysis.

The Book of Boba Fett

Fennec Shand had already made an appearance in The Mandalorian as one of the assassins after Baby Yoda. We see her being left for the dead but then Boba Fett actually comes across her and saves her. This was not all as these characters would come across the Mandalorian once again. Boba Fett takes Fennec Shand on a quest to recover his armor that is with the Mandalorian. Around the end of the second season, we saw Boba Fett helping him out along with Fennec. He made a deal that allowed him to get his armor back. The ending of this season actually saw some rather exciting things happen with a major appearance. We got to see Luke Skywalker in an absolutely surprising cameo.

Return of Mando

Fans were left wondering what was going to be next in the narrative of the Mandalorian now that he and Grogu had parted ways. But the ending of the series actually paved the way for a whole new narrative that explored the character of Boba Fett. We saw Boba Fett and Fennec Shand seize the throne of Jabba’s Palace. This was followed by the title card for The Book of Boba Fett and we also found out that it will be released in December 2021. This came out as a total surprise because we were expecting a hint at the third season for The Mandalorian and instead we got a wholly different project. But Lucasfilm clarified that this is not the end of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett will be a completely different project. Now it seems that we will get to see Din Djarin make an appearance in this series.

New Action TV Shows

The Book of Boba Fett is following a narrative where it is exploring both the present times and the past of the character since we had last seen him. Following this approach the fourth episode The Gathering Storm showed us how Fennec Shang was saved by Boba Fett. This followed the events of Chapter 5 of The Mandalorian. At the same time, the episode also set the stage for the war between Boba and the Pykes. But fans might have noticed that the reference to the Chapter 5 of The Mandalorian wasn’t the only reference to Din Djarin.

The action opens with a huge flash of the flash charges from Mando which blinded Fennec Shand’s scope. But this time around we get to see this scene from the perspective of Boba Fett. We know that Din Djarin didn’t shoot Fennec but it was his actions that allowed Boba to discover her. The interesting thing is that around the end of Chapter 4, we see Fennec and Boba talking about the additional muscle required for the war. When Fennec steps out of the frame we can clearly hear The Mandalorian‘s theme playing in the background as Boba can be seen pondering about something.

Temuera Morrison was asked in an interview with Games Radar about a possible appearance of Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin in the show. The actor responded by saying:

I can’t say anything, but we have some wonderful, colourful things to look forward to. I don’t want to say too much about it because we’re all going to go on this journey together. And every little bit of information is pretty precious now.

Return of Mando

Since the indication is that Boba will be requiring muscle for the war, we can see some other characters make their appearances too. Mandalorian could bring his own friends he had made in the series that includes Bo-Katan Kryze, played by Katee Sackhoff. But this might end up being a rather interesting moment considering Bo-Katan’s character had different motives. There are even rumors that Harrison Ford will be showing up in these shows too.

Fans will get to see whether these things actually end up happening when the new episode for The Book of Boba Fett drops on Disney+ on Wednesday.
