MCU Theory: Scarlet Witch Has An Evil Variant In Doctor Strange 2

The upcoming MCU entry, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will be featuring tons of cameos and callbacks to the past. Among many rumors coming in every day, this one stood out. A theorist believes that Doctor Strange might not be the only one whose evil variants will knock the multiversal threshold down. According to him, Scarlet Witch has an evil variant in Doctor Strange 2.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will take the MCU fanatics on an adventure through the vast multiverse. As said by Strange in No Way Home, Multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little. However, after this movie, he might not be able to say that. After his last solo outing, Doctor Strange has been through a lot. He successfully single-handedly saved the entire universe. Then he opened and closed the Spider-Verse, preventing the most sinister of Spider-Man’s villains to wreak havoc over his world. And now he has moved on to more concerning matters, that is, the splitting open of the entire multiverse.

THE FLOOD OF CAMEOS

With Professor X from the X-Men returning, the movie is rumored to feature a lot of cameos from characters we haven’t seen in a long time. Besides Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff, the returning characters include Wong, Mordo, and Christine Palmer. However, there are rumors that the movie might feature the actors in the roles they were supposed to play but didn’t get. For example, an insider source has revealed that we might see Tom Cruise in the movie as Tony Stark. We might even see the old Fantastic Four return, including Chris Evans’ Human Torch. However, what caught our attention today is the fact that we might see another Scarlet Witch in the whole mix.

Scarlet Witch Has An Evil Variant

Fans suspect that the Scarlet Witch we will be seeing in the movie is an evil variant of the character. However, due to her minimal screentime in the teaser trailer, we are not so sure. But, in the scene that did feature her, the contrasting costumes and expressions made us think if the theorist was onto something.

IS WANDA’S DISTINCT LOOK CONVEYING SOMETHING?

From the looks of the teaser, it was clear that Wanda was not like what we imagined her to be after WandaVision. For starters, Stephen finds Wanda at a different location than we saw her last time. Also, her hair is of color like never before in her entire span of MCU. But most of all, her accent is creating a problem for us all. Then again, this could all be natural as MoM takes place almost a year after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Other things that don’t go with her MCU character are the new costume’s material and sleeves. With the powers of the Scarlet Witch, Wanda created a power suit that appeared on its own in the finale of WandaVision. A similar costume can be seen in the teaser. However, it has some pretty big differences that point towards her not being the one we all remember from last year. Plus, her black fingertips point towards her using dar magic, contrary to what Wanda stands for. However, there is one possible explanation.

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT MCU’S SCARLET WITCH IS CORRUPTED?

The multiverse of Madness promises a lot of demons and monsters from the vast multiverse. So it is not entirely unlikely if one of them forced her to practice dark magic to put them down. Last we saw Wanda, she was learning about this kind of magic in the Darkhold. It is also possible that to practice it, she fell deep into it, with no one to get her out. However, these two don’t seem like MCU’s storylines. The most likely explanation we can think of is that the Wanda we are seeing in the teaser is an evil variant of Scarlet Witch from another universe.

Scarlet Witch Has An Evil Variant

This theory is further proved by the new Multiverse of Madness poster which features different ‘faces’ of Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff. This might be the call-out to the different variants of the characters that we might be seeing in the new movie. The poster features 3 slides of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange, foreshadowing his rumored 3 versions. Surprisingly, we also see 2 slides of Wanda, implying we might see a second version of her character too. And from all the hints that we see in the teaser and the poster, we think that Wanda’s new version will be darker, scarier and probably, more powerful than MCU’s Wanda.

Additionally, we saw the sinister Strange in the trailer and his dark presence made us go ‘whoa’. Some fans think that he might be in the teaser to only distract the viewers from the fact that the Wanda we see is not the one we know. But this cloud of confusion will soon disappear once we get the official trailer of the movie in the next month or so. Until that, we will keep updating you on the hidden clue and hints from the teaser or the future posters.
