Why The Witcher Season 2 Needs To Reveal This Big Secret of Geralt

The Witcher is one of the most interesting shows that has shown up on Netflix considering fans of the series existed since the games and the books came into being. There are various interesting things to explore in this series. It has rightfully acquired the audience that was originally aimed for Game of Thrones following the end of the latter show. While we got to explore a whole world of characters in the show there were quite a few factors at play in order to make them more interesting. There is a lot about Geralt’s character that still needs to be properly explained in the series. Let’s take a look at the big secret of Geralt that has to be revealed in The Witcher season 2.

The Witcher

The Witcher explored the adventures of Geralt of Rivia played by Henry Cavill along with the narratives of Yennefer, played by Anya Chalotra, and Princess Ciri played by Freya Allen. Princess Ciri’s character ends up connecting with the character of Geralt by the end of Season 1 in order to fulfill her destiny. The biggest achievement of the show has to be the performances by the individual actors in their characters. Fans of the games and the books have agreed that this might actually be one of the best interpretations for the world of The Witcher. The series made sure to pick elements from both the books and the games in order to give fans the required amount of entertainment.

The series was one of the most popular shows coming out of Netflix and at the same time, it was also one of the highly anticipated releases of that year. Netflix instantly orders two more seasons and there are various spinoffs also at work with anime movies that came out earlier this year. While Henry Cavill’s performance as Geralt does attract the eye considering he was an avid fan of the games himself and has undergone the required physical transformation for the role. But it seems that for the series to live up to its reputation the upcoming second season has to address something that was not addressed before.

The Witcher Code

The Big Secret of Geralt

Throughout the majority of the narrative, we see Geralt as a bounty hunter-type character who goes around killing dangerous monsters and receives payments for doing so. There is a certain code called the “Witcher’s Code” on which he depends when choosing jobs to accept. Various times throughout the series he uses this code to get out of working for free. It seems that the mention of the code is a better option than simply saying no to a job. While not much is revealed about what is behind this code but fans of the literature will know that this code is one of Geralt’s most closely guarded secrets.

According to The Witcher books, written by Andrzej Sapkowski, Geralt explains that there is actually no Witcher Code and he simply uses this to avoid some missions. The reasons behind avoiding these missions could be related to his morale. But Season 2 would be the ideal chance to actually address this in the series considering we will get to see his old mentor Vesemir, played by Kim Bodnia, come for his help.

We got to see Vesemir in the Road to Season 2 trailer that was released last year. Here we got to see Geralt and Ciri arrive at the Witcher stronghold of Kaer Morhen which could mean that Vesemir might end up helping Geralt to train Ciri. Vesemir was last seen in the anime movie The Witcher: The Nightmare of the Wolf, as he was the only survivor of the attack on the stronghold, and that eventually put him in charge of training the next generation of Witcher.

The Big Secret of Geralt

Vesemir was a father figure to Geralt and we can expect a somewhat similar thing in the relationship between Geralt and Ciri. Vesemir and Geralt are the ideal people to train Ciri so that she can learn to control her abilities. As both of the characters work together as a mentor to Ciri, they might actually let her know the truth behind Geralt’s code.

The Witcher Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 17.
