Why Green Goblin Has 2 Different Suits In Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home will be featuring a lot of Spider-Man villains and we got a chance to see probably all of them in the second trailer. The trailer had some fun-filled moments but the biggest moment had to be the confirmation of all the villains coming together. One thing fans have noticed is the various details that have been added to the villains each of whom we have seen before in past Spider-Man movies. The movie seems to have made some updates to the costumes of each of these villains and they are absolutely awesome. We got to see another character in the trailer who seems to resemble Green Goblin a lot. A new theory explains why Green Goblin has 2 different suits in No Way Home.

Green Goblin

Green Goblin was the very first live-action villain we got to see in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man with Willem Dafoe giving one of the best performances in the role. The character was of much importance to the fans because he is given a proper buildup in the movie till his death due to his own glider in the end. While the character did not appear in the first trailer, his ominous laugh could still be heard. The second trailer gave us a proper look at the character but it seems there was something different about his this time.

Why Green Goblin Has 2 Different Suits

It was clear that we will properly get to see Green Goblin when the poster Marvel released a few days before the release of the second trailer showed the villain in the background. The second trailer gave us a much clearer look at him and it was absolutely awesome to see him appear with some updates to the classic costume we had seen in Spider-Man 1. But this won’t be the only costume that we will be seeing him don this time around.

Green Goblin New Costume

Why Green Goblin Has 2 Different Suits

In a very small scene from the trailer, we get to see a character appear in a glider with weapons that seem to be resembling Green Goblin a lot. But the only thing that is different about this trailer has to be the fact that the costume is absolutely different and there doesn’t even seem to be a mask for the characters. Fans were quick into wondering about the other versions of Green Goblin who might be appearing in the movie.

The first and obvious guess was James Franco’s Harry Osborn who was seen in Spider-Man 3 donning an almost similar costume and using the glider. Considering Sandman was also making an appearance in the movie fans clearly wondered if this means that Harry will also be appearing. But that doesn’t seem to be the case because of the controversy surrounding James Franco presently.

Another candidate for the character was Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin who appeared next to Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The character also has a somewhat dark costume and also uses a glider. But there is a lesser chance of this character coming back in Spider-Man because it was probably the worst villain with the most improper character development in the history of Spider-Man movies.

Who Is This Character?

It seems that the character is no one else but Willem Dafoe’s Norman Osborn himself with a completely new costume. Details regarding the various updates for the costumes of the villain characters were leaked on Twitter a few months back. It seems that the character is no one new but actually Willem Dafoe himself. This has also been confirmed based on the 4K version of the trailer clearly showing that it is Willem Dafoe without the mask and wearing goggles in his glider.

A lot of changes seem to have been made to the individual villains for No Way Home. Jamie Foxx’s Electro seems to have changed a lot and looks way better than what we saw in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with the added features on the eyes that seem to resemble the comic book version. There seem to be changes made to Doc Ock too as he seems to be able to absorb the nanotech from Spider-Man’s Iron Spider suit. We will be able to see all these suits in action when Spider-Man: No Way Home comes out in theaters worldwide on December 17.
