The Post-Credits Scenes of Eternals Explained

Eternals is indeed a massive addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it has affected the way we saw this cinematic world. The movie has introduced a lot of new characters into the franchise with a variety of powers while at the same time it has also set up newer stories that might be explored in the future. It comes as no surprise that these stories are a rather essential part of the MCU narrative as a whole and at the same time continue the idea of future projects set around the Eternals. But as always the biggest news has to be the post-credits scenes considering they give us a hint of what all is to come next in the franchise. So, here’s an explanation of the post-credits scenes of Eternals.

Spoilers for Eternals Exist in the article. Proceed if you’ve seen the film!

Eternals

Oscar-winning director Chloe Zhao’s feature film addition to the MCU is probable the most different story that fans of the franchise have come across. Even though the movie has some of the tropes of a Marvel feature, it ensures that it also adds some unique moments that we haven’t probably experienced before. This is probably also the reason why there is a mixed reaction to the movie. But even though the movie presented us with a lot of heroes and new additions the post-credit sequences only made sure that there are yet more characters.

Post-Credits Scenes of Eternals

The movie has two post-credit sequences that have been according to the general trend of post-credit sequences in the other MCU movies. Even Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings featured two such scenes that actually gave us an idea regarding the character’s future in the franchise. The same can be said in the case of Eternals as we got to see something that was rather unexpected and it was kinda exciting.

In the first post-credits scene we see Makkari, played by Lauren Ridloff, Druig, played by Barry Keoghan, and Thena, played by Angelina Jolie aboard the team’s spaceship on the lookout for Eternals living on other planets. They want to communicate the true plans of Aishem to these other Eternals. They are still worried about what’s happening back on Earth since they haven’t heard from their teammates in a long time. But suddenly we are introduced to two new characters who teleport into the ship out of nowhere. Pip the Troll and Eros, played by Harry Styles, introduce themselves to the Eternals and mention that they’ve come to help them. Eros says, “Your friends are in big trouble, and we know where to find them.”

The second post-credits sequence sets up on the scene where Dane Whitman didn’t clearly mention his family history while confessing his love for Gemma Chan’s Sersi just before the latter is kidnapped by Arishem. The scene features him opening a mysterious box that reveals a curious sword. This sword could actually be the Ebony Blade which is actually the Black Knight’s weapon. As he approaches this weapon a voice offscreen asks, “Sure you’re ready for that?”.

The first scene comes as an absolute surprise but it was expected that some other of the Eternals would also be introduced in the movie. Pip the Troll came as an absolute surprise considering the character is associated with Adam Warlock and since the latter is going to appear in another project we thought Pip would also appear with him. The second scene clearly builds up the character of Dane Whitman in the franchise based on his comic book story.

Harry Styles Signs A Five Picture Deal With Marvel

Harry Styles has made his debut into the MCU and it seems the actor will have a lot of presence in the future of the franchise. Eros is Thano’s brother but he is unlike Thanos and opposes his ideology but at the same time is known as a womanizing adventurer. There is even a chance that the character might get his own solo venture in the franchise. According to Giant Freakin Robot’s trusted insider sources:

Harry Styles is set to become a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Audiences should expect to see a lot more of him.

He’s been talking to Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel, who promised big things for the actor’s future. A solo project for Starfox is a possibility on the table.

It sounds like Harry Styles is being set up for a massive future in their cinematic universe, something comparable to Nick Fury’s many appearances.

Harrington also expects Dane Whitman will have more to his story since we can expect him to take the mantle of Black Knight now. He told Total Film in an interview, “I had read up on who [Dane] could be, or might be, so there’s a possibility for a longer trajectory. And hopefully, I think this is the tip of the iceberg for my character.” This has to be some of the most exciting news regarding the future of the franchise.
