The Most Paused Moments in MCU (Vol. 1)
After rewatching the movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe multiple times, there are some moments that always make us pause to observe their level of detail or perfection. Here, we have assembled the Most Paused Moments in MCU which revealed extremely crucial details for the future of the franchise. This is the first of our multiple incoming volumes.
1. BETA REY BILL AS A CHAMPION IN SAKAAR – THOR: RAGNAROK
Thor: Ragnarok featured a bunch of details and hints, so if you missed one or two of them, don’t worry. The movie teased a lot of characters for the future and one of them was Beta Ray Bill. When Valkyrie brought Thor to the great palace of the Grandmaster, we see a lot of memorable faces on the structure. And if you pause and observe, you can easily spot the Beta Ray’s distinctive head amidst them. These were the Grandmaster’s champions who fought in his arena. Later on in the movie, we can also spot an unbuilt part of Hulk’s head.
2. A GLIMPSE OF JANET ON THE WAY TO QUANTUM REALM – ANT-MAN
2016’s Ant-Man introduced us to a whole bunch of new characters and hinted towards others. The first Ant-Man explained how his wife, the former Wasp, went sub-atomic to stop a Soviet missile and saved millions of lives. It was supposed to be a pre-set as Scott Lang was to do the same thing in the future. So, when he did, there was a very short moment in his way when we could see a small glimpse of Wasp in the Quantum Realm. It was only a shadowy figure, placed very cleverly.
3. STEVE ROGER’S LIST – CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER
Steve Rogers slept on the ice for 70 years, as the society moved on and reached the moon. So, to catch up with the modern generation, he prepared a small list of all the popular things that he needed to check out. So, if you pause at the correct time, you can see many pop culture references of the last 5 centuries, including Star Wars and Rocky (and Rocky II). This shot is actually different for all the regions. For example, in the UK, the movie featured a list where it had names like The Beatles and Rafael Nadal. While the Australian one had Steve Irwin and other scribbled notes. Clever, right?
4. THE S.H.I.E.L.D.’S LIST OF INTERESTS – IRON MAN 2
Iron Man 2 was about laying foundations for the future of the vast MCU and had so many details. One of them was conspicuously hidden in the background but some eagle-eyed fans were able to spot it. When Nick Fury and Tony stark sat to talk, the background had a detailed S.H.I.E.L.D.’s map. The map contained a focus on many locations which grew of importance in the MCU. The map had Stark’s Malibu house, Mjolnir’s crash zone, Rogers’ last known location from 1945, and surprisingly, Wakanda. It also teased Atlantis, but that didn’t go anywhere (so far).
5. AVENGERS’ EXTINCTION – AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON
The mentioned scene was one of the most gruesome shots of the MCU. The scene was featured in Tony’s conscience and Wanda Maximoff deserves the credit for it. the scene had Tony, along with all the Avengers and the future Avengers, all lying on the ground, dead! What makes this scene special is all the details and hints that were seen in MCU’s future. For example, we saw Cap’s shield broken in half, just like it did when Thanos strikes it repeatedly. It was revealed to be Stark’s greatest fear, which almost came true, but his sacrifice changed the course of history. The scene even caused him restless nights in the future (Iron Man 3).
6. ODIN’S INFINITY GAUNTLET – THOR (2011)
Contrary to popular belief, Thor: Ragnarok was not the first time that we saw the Infinity Gauntlet in the MCU. It was actually in 2011’s Thor that we saw the gauntlet in Odin’s Vault. It was in a scene where we got a tour of the Vault to see the Casket of Ancient Winters and other artifacts. However, we saw a glimpse, and a very small one of that, of the Infinity Gauntlet. It might have been a fake one but it still excited people at the time.
So this was our first list of the most paused moments in MCU. Do let us know if you paused to view these hints or details. And if you haven’t yet, make sure to do it in your next rewatch!
