No Way Home Might Ignore This Major Mysterio Problem And It Is Killing Us

The Multiverse will play a big part in the upcoming phases of MCU but, Mysterio hinted at a version of Multiverse back in Far From Home. Although his version was a complete lie, as established by the end of the movie. However, as the Multiverse unfolds in Phase 4, we are finding more and more similarities between the two. This could a major continuity issue and, fans are worrying that the NWH developers might ignore it. Keep up as we explain this Mysterio problem.

THE START OF THE MYSTERIO PROBLEM…

Spider-Man: Far From Home Norman Osborn

When Spider-Man: Far From Home introduced Mysterio, the audience thought Marvel might finally bring the Multiverse into the MCU. But the audience could not have been more wrong. Mysterio fooled everyone in the movie, as well as the audience. He was even successful to fool one of the smartest men in the MCU, Nick Fury. He knew that after the events of Endgame, the people would believe in anything supernatural. All he needed was an elaborate lie that is so unbelievable that it seems believable. Mysterio said that he came from an Earth-833 that is now destroyed due to a series of attacks from Elementals.

Further, in the comics, the Spider-Man from Earth-833 had moved away from his supposed home. Apparently, Peter Parker became a member of the Captain Britain Corps and lived in the UK. So, he never became a Spider-Man and this doomed the existence of this planet. Mysterio didn’t explain all this but he did mention that he came from Earth-833 to Earth-616 for the redemption of his soul. He pretended that he was blaming himself for the fate of his planet and wanted to save another to make up for it. And MCU’s Peter Parker related to this thought so much that he started seeing his next mentor in Quentin Beck.

Recently, in a Ringer-Verse Podcast, Marvel Producer Nate Moore confirmed that MCU is, in fact, Earth-616. This is also the main timeline that was the basis of all Marvel comics. It was a surprise for every comic reader as the MCU was earlier thought to be based on the Earth-199999. For the audience, it was the moment when Mysterio called MCU the Earth-616, the defining moment that Mysterio was lying. But, again, they could not have been more wrong.

THE EARTH-616 QUANDARY

Mysterio Problem

As the comics grew, the writers were not happy with the fact that their predecessors called the main timeline 616. They even asked for a reset in 2015 during a Secret Wars event, but their request was denied by the editorial board. Their reasons were quite profound. They argued that fans will not react well to changing the main timeline of the entire comics. Plus, it would create even more uncertainties as it would mean that this was now the “Prime Universe”. Over the years, the writers seem to have forgotten this argument and moved on.

The thing now is that even though Mysterio lied, he was speaking the truth. When Beck was lying, the multiverse hadn’t been slipped open so there was no way that he knew that the Earth they live in was the 616 one. But the question now is: Now that the REAL multiverse is here, will the Earth-616 be mentioned as the Earth-616?

Mysterio Problem

All these uncertainties could prove fatal for the developers if they try to ignore them. If we found any more similarities between Mysterio’s multiverse and the real one, it would raise another question. Will Jake Gyllenhaal be back as Quentin Beck from another universe? After all, 5 villains are already coming back. But the main reason for this question will be the fact that in the comics, Mysterio was one of the founding members.
