We are getting new footage from Spider-Man: No Way Home every other day with the release date of the film getting closer. Various new tv spots and other marketing promotions videos have given us extended looks at some of the scenes that were set up in the movie. There are a lot of 30-second TV spots available to us and each of these included a particular new scene amongst the other recycled scenes from the past trailers. Not only that, but some of the scenes even included the same moments with an alternate backdrop. It seems that new footage for the marketing of Spider-Man: No Way Home, might have been indicative of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man.
No Way Home TV Spots
Amongst the various theories surrounding Spider-Man: No Way Home, some were cleared when we got to see the villains from the past Spider-Man films appear in the second trailer for the movie. This included characters of the likes of Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Rhys Ifans’ Lizard. Ever since most of the tv spots have shown these villains in the city of New York or revealed some dialogues between the friends of Peter Parker. But one of the biggest focuses was the narrative between Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Spider-Man, mainly the highway battle scene.
The new footage from the movie drops some dialogues that might be indicative of the presence of an essential character in the movie. Posted on Sony Pictures UK’s Twitter handle, the clip opens with the characters of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, and Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock. And this is where we get the tease for Tobey’s Spidey.
Strange asks Doc Ock if he knows a Peter Parker who is Spider-Man and Doc Ock replies with a yes. But then when he points at Peter Parker and asks if he is the one from his universe, Octavius simply replies with a no. Then we dive into a compilation of past footage from the movie we have already seen in the trailers and here while we are shown the villains who have appeared so far, a line is heard the Sorcerer Supreme:
“capture them before they destroy the very fabric of reality.”
What Does This Mean For Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man
While the fans are confirmed that we will get to witness Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in the movie, there’s still no confirmed footage from the trailers and promos of the movie. Neither Tobey Maguire nor Andrew Garfield has yet appeared in any of the marketing for Spider-Man: No Way Home. But this very moment from the TV spot is one of the biggest Easter eggs towards the presence of the character.
We will probably only get to see Doc Ock meet his universe’s Spider-Man when Spider-Man: No Way Home comes out on December 17.
It stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, J.K. Simmons, Jon Favreau, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, Rhys Ifans, Thomas Haden Church and possibly, the previous two Spider-Men.
