Black Panther 2 Is In Serious Problem (Could Be Delayed Again)

Marvel is at the peak of their work as they have various upcoming projects. While some projects are introducing completely fresh heroes into the franchise, others are continuing the narrative of the Avengers through solo ventures. One of these projects that is under a lot of secrecy is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The movie has gone through major changes while being under development. It seems Black Panther 2 is in serious problem as it might experience another delay in the long future

On-set Injury

We first got to know about Letitia Wright’s injuries on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever earlier this year and it was reported that production was put on halt for the movie. This was a clear indication that the story will feature her character heavily with rumors suggesting that she might be taking on the legacy of Black Panther. The untimely death of Chadwick Boseman caused major changes in the movie and Ryan Coogler had the responsibility to carry on the legacy of the star in his absence.

But it seems the injuries of Letitia Wright might be a lot more severe than it was initially reported. The producers for the movie had this today about her injury:

…Letitia had a frightening accident on our set during a stunt back in August. It was a reminder of the importance of safety at all times in our work, which we know you understand and are committed to. What we had initially thought were minor injuries turned out to be much more serious with Letitia suffering a critical shoulder fracture, and a concussion with severe side effects. It has been a painful process and Letitia has been home recovering with her doctors and the support of family.

It was originally believed that this delay in production won’t affect the release of the film on November 11, 2022. But this increase in the delay with the production might affect the movie and thus cause a delay in the release date. Furthermore, the star is not vaccinated and has been rather outspoken about not vaccinating. This might cause more delay considering she isn’t a U.S. citizen and this might affect her chances to return to the country.

It is still being believed that this delay won’t affect the release date for the Black Panther sequel as Marvel has already shuffled the release dates for their upcoming MCU sequels. This delay included movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Marvels, Ant-Man, and the Wasp: Quantumania itself.

If the production for the movie resumes in January 2022, we can expect it to stick to the November 2022 release date. But if it’s any longer than that, then the movie could get delayed. We might get to see another reshuffling in the worst-case scenario. Hopefully, the creatives will have ample time to shoot the movie and finish its VFX work on time.
