8 Actors Who Appeared In At Least 3 Comic Book Franchises

Many actors play multiple roles for different franchises in town. And with the growing amount of comic book franchises, actors are seen in more than two of them. However, there are some legendary actors who have been involved in 3 or even more of such comic book franchises. Here, we talk about 8 of these stars. Let us see if the die-hard fans remember seeing these actors in the adaptations of their favorite comics!

1. SAMUEL L. JACKSON

Sam L. Jackson was made for the comic book roles. In 2000, Jackson was asked if his face could be used for the Super-Spy Nick Fury. 6 years later, he landed the role and cameo-ed in 2008’s Iron Man. After that, he appeared in 10 films out of the 25 MCU movies. Other than that, he also appeared as the villain, The Octopus, in The Spirit (2008). In 2014, he played the infamous Richmond Villain in Frank Miller’s Kingsman: The Secret Service. Adding to the list, he blessed the screen with his presence in the American version of Oldboy (2013).

2. JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN

Jeffrey Dean Morgan does not need to prove just how versatile he is. His roles for comic nook franchises says it all. He appeared as The Comedian, an antihero, in the long-awaited Watchmen (2009). He also played the heroic sidekick to Idris Elba’s character in The Losers (2010). Dean Morgan had a cameo in another Zack Snyder movie, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Jeffrey played Bruce Wayne’s father, Thomas Wayne, in a flashback scene. But, our favorite Dean Morgan role has to be of the infamous The Walking Dead villain, Negan.

3. TOMMY LEE JONES

Comic Book Franchises

Lee Jones grew to popularity in the 80s and the 90s. He played the renowned character of Agent K in 1997’s Men in Black. And thanks to his chemistry with Will Smith, the movie turned out to be one of the greatest hits of the decade. He appeared in 2 more films and the franchise went on for almost 20 years. He even played the iconic character of Harvey Two-Face in Batman Forever (1997). Jones stole the scenes when he played the grumpy colonel in Captain America: The First Avenger.

4. SCARLETT JOHANSSON

Scarlett Johansson has been doing comic book roles long before she was cast as the Black Widow in 2010’s Iron Man 2. She went on to play the role in the franchise until her stand-alone movie in 2021. The first comic book role she got was in a small project, Ghost World (2011). 7 years later, she played the sidekick to Sam L. Jackson’s character in The Spirit. She played the character of Silken Floss.

5. CHRIS EVANS

Statement: Chris Evans is the most versatile comic book franchise actor EVER!!!

Proof: He first found his love for comic book roles in 2005’s Fantastic Four when he played Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. The movie got a mixed response, however, the audience fell in love with Evans’ role and described it as one of the only good aspects of the movie. He played another F4 movie and moved on to join Sam L. Jackson in The Losers. He featured in a cameo in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010). Following this, he bagged the opportunity of a lifetime when he was cast as Captain America/ Steve Rogers in the MCU. He went on to star in 10 movies till his finale in Avengers: Endgame.

6. IDRIS ELBA

Elba has played some pretty impressive comic book characters in his career. He was a part of the ensemble cast of The Losers. He bagged the role of Heimdal in the following year. Elba went on to play the character in 3 movies after 2011’s Thor. His MCU roles were quite short but he made his presence felt with his gifted acting skills. Recently, he made it into the lead cast of the reboot of Suicide Squad. He played the antihero, Bloodsport, in the James Gunn-directed action movie. The movie was full of violence and gore but Bloodsport proved that he had smaller bullets.

7. RYAN REYNOLDS, OF COURSE!

Comic Book Franchises

You probably clicked on the link to find Mr. Reynolds in the list. Back when he was not a primarily funny actor, he did some pretty serious roles for comic book franchises. The first of many was Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity (2004). He then played the Merc without a Mouth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and then led the spin-off franchise as Deadpool in two movies. Did we forget a movie? Well, just like Ryan Renolds himself, even we don’t like mentioning this role of his but we have to. Besides Marvel Studio, he even played ball with DC Studios and their adaptation of the popular superhero, Green Lantern. The film was not a big success among the critics or at the box office.

8. JOSH BROLIN

Brolin recently starred in Dune, but that’s an adaptation based on a Novel. Before this one, he has appeared in DC’s Jonah Hex movie. And we all know what he did as Cable in Deadpool 2, and as Thanos in the MCU films. Hopefully, we’d see him return as at least one of these 2 Marvel characters. But did you know that he also appeared in 2 other CBMs? One was Sin City, and the other is Men in Black III. So, total 5 roles!
